CMP VoIP Developer Coverage
Here is another great article from TechWeb/Information Week titled VoIP is Just the Beginning which focuses on TMC’s VoIP Developer Conference. Here is an excerpt:
Intel’s Michael Stanford thinks voice is just “the first drop in the deluge” of applications for IP-enabled networks. And Digium’s Mark Spencer has an interesting toolkit for building IP telephony apps.
Perhaps that’s why the two were paired in the morning keynote session Thursday at the VoIP Developer Conference here, to spell out some of the ways developers, resellers and corporate users might take advantage of the power of IP-based networking.
As director of Intel’s VoIP strategy group, Stanford’s comments to the couple hundred attendees were definitely future-looking, particularly in the area of VoIP and other services over wireless broadband. One huge market about to emerge, Stanford said, is that of dual-mode phone handsets, which will seamlessly roam between cellular, Wi-Fi and WiMAX or other fixed-wireless broadband networks.
“The writing’s on the wall for wireline voice,” Stanford said, predicting that within 3 to 5 years, cellular services will “totally dominate” voice traffic. As for VoIP, Stanford sees it as “just the baseline feature” of advanced IP networks. “Services over IP is the huge thing,” he said, mentioning videoconferencing, interactive television and converged voice and data applications as potential new market ideas. “It’s gold rush time for developers.”
Airline Bomb Threat
This explains the airline security issues at JFK.
JFK Almost Cleared
Follow up to Something Going on at JFK.
Here is the latest from one of my coworkers:
We are about to be cleared
They start letting us out and a small alarm went off.
Guess we are almost good to go.
Something Going On at JFK
Members of the TMC team coming back from our VoIP Developer show are apparently blocked by the gates at JFK as they returned home because of what they think may be a security issue. Stay tuned.

Oprah Spam
Apparently this is the new virus plaguing internet users. I literally get 2-3 invitations to subscribe for free each day. Is this such a great incentive for me? No. Do I enjoy getting this crap on my Blackberry? NO. For women, perhaps this is a great incentive? It just shows you the way slimy spammers try to entice different demographic groups one at a time. Would I fill out an application to win a free Ferrari just by filling out a spam e-mail? That's a tough one.
