Mihaylo Bids for Inter-Tel

May 16, 2007
There is a higher bid for Inter-Tel than what Mitel initially offered to pay. The bid is being led by Steve Mihaylo who is a major shareholder of Inter-Tel and the former founder. Rumor has it Steve who has been a keynote speaker at a prior Internet Telephony Conference & Expo has board members who can help direct the sale of the company back into his control.

Mihaylo had a former offer for the company rejected as you may recall.

Being part of the Terry Matthews family of companies has tremendous advantages which are hard to compare with any competing offer in my opinion. This means the Mihaylo offer would likely have to be substantially higher than Mitel’s highest bid to be successful.

More details.

Kerry Garrison is the senior product manger for trixbox for Fonality and is educating the audience at TMC's Communications Developer Conference on the benefits of open source development. He had the audience laughing when he said semi-jokingly that open source communications will one day squash the big iron guys. :)

Skype Game Developer Program

May 16, 2007

Paul Amery the head of Skype's Development Program is speaking today at TMC's Communications Developer Conference and is focusing on the five trends in communications development. Paul broke news at the show with the launch of a new program for game developers.

The new Skype Games Channel Program is a way to help game developers publish and promote their games to Skype's growing user base.

Paul cited Marc Robin's column in Internet Telephony Magazine where Marc complains the hype about unified messaging has been way ahead of adoption for years.

From there. There was talk of mashups, mapping and mobility. He also focused on unified contact management and complained how tough it is to manage contacts across services and devices.
