Call Center/CRM News July 6, 2007
July 6, 2007
Here is the latest in the contact center and CRM space. Interesting topics consist of call center trends in Mexico and New Zealand. I have always wanted to go to New Zealand by the way and just haven’t found the free 24 hours or so I would need just to fly their from the east cost of the US.
One other interesting item is the iPhone CRM link from CompanionLink.

VoIP News Week of July 6, 2007

Here is some of the recent news in the IP communications space this past week. The ShoreTel IPO is one of the more interesting stories. Also, check out the latest at JAHJAH and the others.
Qualcomm Vs. Broadcom Take 2
July 6, 2007
The latest on the Qualcomm/Broadcom patent dispute and the need (or lack thereof) for presidential assistance. I generally find patent news fascinating but for some reason this particular case (or this news at least) is more like following a complex soap opera than following the general communications news I follow.
Unwired Enterprise
July 6, 2007
Nortel is perfectly positioned to bring the world their Unwired Enterprise vision. The company is a strong player in the enterprise and service provider markets. For this reason it may even be surprising Nortel hasn’t gained more traction as they offer a great suite of products and services.
The leading Canadian communications company has been doing an impressive job of branding via it’s hyperconnectivity campaign and now it’s adding “unwired enterprise” to the mix. Personally I am not a fan of the term hyperconnectivity but I can't think of a better term and at the same time I admit I understand immediately and exactly what the term is meant to convey. Somehow it just makes me uncomfortable. Like there are electrodes on my brain or something.
But this digression misses the point that from a marketing perspective one and two-word taglines are exactly what companies need to brand the brain of the decision maker.
Nortel is in a great position to leverage its various product lines to work seamlessly together to provide solutions others can't match. The marketing messages have been planted… Now it is up to the company to back them up with consistency and a continued pipeline of great products the market buys.
One Hot iPhone
July 6, 2007
If an iPhone is going to get hot enough to fry an egg and then break, you probably don’t want that iPhone to belong to a reporter who happens to work for MSNBC. Here is that story.Do you think this story will persuade anyone to not buy an iPhone? No way! Apple will continue to seduce a new generation of consumers with this dizzyingly popular device.
Nokia N800 The Real Story
July 6, 2007
What is the world’s toughest job at the moment? It has to be trying to compete head on with the iPhone. But as Om Malik points out, the Nokia N800 does a great deal of what the iPhone does not and did it sooner. A new upgrade enables Skype to run and has Flash support. I must have upgraded more recently than Om because I can watch YouTube videos (which are based on Flash) on my device.Ok, to be straight with my readers the two devices are not really head to head competitors as the N800 is not a cell phone. But if you spend much of your time in areas where there is WiFi the N800 is a perfect device for giving you web, e-mail, Skype access and more.
