If you are an AT&T Premier customer you can now buy the iPhone 3G online. This is much better than having to stand in line but of course it seems that only business customers qualify. Sorry.

You have to remember this one key fact, you can't just come over here and buy the phone then take it overseas. If you walk into an AT&T or Apple store, your not walking out with an iPhone unless you sign a 2 year contract. This phone is no longer being sold individually you HAVE to sign up with AT&T to get the phone in the U.S. So i don't see how you will convince them to allow you to buy it without a contract because there is no option to do so. The carrier for Egypt won't be AT&T so your basically gonna sign up with one service only to have to switch to your current Eqytian carrier service. If i were you i'd just wait till the phone launches without going through all the hassel and cash your gonna drop to get a phone that potentially won't work once you return home and you'd be forced to wait anyway.
