Anti Net Neutrality Video

I don’t agree with much of this video but am always open to many points of view. This video says the best way to ensure competition on the Internet is to keep it free from regulation. I agree with this assumption if there are 5 or more solid competitors to choose from. Any less and there is risk of stifling innovation as broadband competitors own the pipes.

In reality in my area I have cable and DSL to chose from or two vendors. This is obviously not enough.

The one area that is right on in this video is how much money the internet companies are making. The question is whether it is at the expense of the broadband providers or not. It partially is I suppose but how much value do these Internet companies provide in return. The Internet wouldn’t be the Internet without Yahoo!, eBay and Google – right?

I think that more competition should lead to a regulatory free internet and will eventually lead to more innovation. I also think the internet wouldn't be the same with the Yahoos and Googles of the world. These type of company's take the internet to the next level by offering consumers easy access to tons of services and features. In my opinion I think the AT&T's and Verizons of the world can't offer the services and new innovations as fast or efficient as Yahoo! and Google, for example, so they should instead they should learn from these companies and use their corporate muscle to spur innovation and the growth of the internet. Just some thoughts.

Great points. Perhaps they should be investing a number of spin-offs to compete with the big boys. Perhaps one or two of these new companies will be the next big web phenomenon.

F&*&k you and your astroturf agenda.
