TMC Editorial Open House August 12th

July 19, 2010

Last week I was fortunate enough to head out to San Jose and shoot video interviews with over 100 companies who are the heart and soul of Silicon Valley. For me, it was energizing and refreshing - like consuming vials of energy boosting supplements in rapid succession. In addition, some of my editorial editorial team came with me to meet and greet as well as network with the many companies who make up the various tech markets the TMCnet audience cares about.

A few videos shot last week

TMC editors in San Jose Next Week

July 8, 2010

Next Week, my team and I will be hosting meetings in San Jose where the technology and communications markets will have unprecedented access to TMC editors and the ability to tell their story in TMC's video newsroom. Since I blogged about the opportunity a while back we have already scheduled over 60 meetings. We are subsequently flying more of our team out to the west coast to handle the meetings. The good news is there is still some more space left for meetings now that we have decided to send more resources cross-country from our headquarters in Connecticut.

Moreoever, this event now has networking potential meaning you will not only meet editors but others in the industry.

Invitation Only Video Interviews in San Jose with TMC

June 29, 2010

OK - it is kind of weird to call it "invitation only" if I am blogging about it but somehow it doesn't seem right to not let you know that TMC will be on-hand in Silicon Valley performing a host of video interviews with the best and brightest minds in tech and communications at the San Jose Marriott Tues, JULY 13th - Thurs, JULY 15th.

A sample screen shot of an interview which took place just outside of Washington DC

Here is a link to the most recent interviews I posted from a similar trip to the Washington DC area. If you are interested in consideration be sure to reach out immediately to Jaime Hernaez (jhernaez (at) tmcnet.com).

Since word got out about these interviews the spots have been filling up faster than in any city we have gone to so please be aware we expect all spots to fill up soon.

Here is a sample video from our recent DC trip

Cloud Computing Boosts Data Center Market

June 29, 2010

Thanks to cloud computing, cloud-based storage, cloud-based contact centers, cloud communications and a mix of other services hosted in data centers worldwide, the data center market is booming. A solid article about the market comes courtesy of David Gross at Seeking Alpha.

Coincidentally I will be moderating an Interactive Intelligence sponsored webinar focusing on cloud communications at 2:00pm EST today (don't worry; it is archived if you get to this post later or are busy at this time). I hope to see you online- in the mean time here is an excerpt from the above-mentioned article.

Russia to Duplicate Silicon Valley? Good Luck With That

June 24, 2010

Which country wouldn't want to duplicate the success of Silicon Valley? What leader wouldn't want to be the one who brought their country to the technological forefront? TMCnet's Erin Harrison reports that Russian President Dmitry Medvedev toured Silicon Valley on Wednesday to explore the so-called "origins of success," at Twitter's San Francisco headquarters. Medvedev reportedly set up a Twitter account under the name KremlinRussia and sent his first tweet.

Apple App Store the OPEC of the West

June 16, 2010

I try to always look out for my readers and as such I have been one of the harshest critics of closed app stores and how they could change the computing paradigm via censorship which is not good for users. But for the US there may be very important reasons to embrace this new transformation - especially as it pertains to the Apple and iTunes App Store. To set this article up let's explore the extent of global software piracy - currently the total amount of pirated software stands at $53B according to a study by the BSA and IDC.

According to the report:

Where is Rich and Those CBx Videos?

June 8, 2010

I swear I haven't been playing hooky today and yesterday - I have in fact been meeting with lots of very innovative Canadian companies - most of which I met for the first time. Innovation as always is alive and well up here in Canada. It is also surprisingly cold at night this week (why I don't check weather forecasts every time I travel so I can remember to bring a jacket is beyond me) and the people here seem to love living in Canada. Moreover they say the quality of life and crime rate is low but the taxes are ridiculously high.
