Why Is Bitcoin Worth More than Gold? Because We Said so.

October 13, 2017

Seriously, we had to do a double-take when we happened upon this NASDAQ post, Why is Bitcoin Worth More than Gold? Martin Tiller's excellent article goes into how a new ETF which will track the virtual currency that the SEC will hopefully soon approve. The article is worth a read - we've excerpted some of it below but the bottom line is the author believes supply and demand has a lot to do with it.

What the creator of Bitcoin, the mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto, did was turn that notion on its head. What if currency, like gold, was both limited and scarce in nature? If that was the case, then as an economy expanded, the currency would become more, not less valuable, and increasingly small amounts of it would be needed to pay for things.

Spikko Brings Multiple Numbers and Recording to Mobile Phones

October 9, 2017

While there are a number of companies who can add phone numbers to mobile phones via VoIP, Spikko takes a different approach. The company allows a mobile device to have a single SIM and multiple local numbers with global call-recording added as one of its optional services. The company supports most countries but there are around 50 primary ones.

I spoke with company representative Ron Barak about the company's differentiators and he mentioned that they have their data center in the Amazon cloud in Ireland and from there they allow phones to work as local devices on multiple networks. They have negotiated great rates for customers - 2-3 cents per minute per call, $10/month for call recording and $5-$6 per number.

TMC Partners with MWC and CTIA on Enterprise IoT Event

July 28, 2017

We are approaching the 20th IoT Evolution event and TMC and Crossfire Media keep working hard to improve the event, show after show. Thanks to many people like you who have given us positive comments on our efforts, we've been able to grow each event and find new conference areas of focus which tie in with IoT.

Help Nominate Agents of Digital Transformation

May 25, 2017

We have some very exciting news to share!

The Agents of Change recognition program was developed to identify the leaders within companies that are helping transform vision and innovation into reality.

Nominate leaders you believe deserve special recognition for their ability to initiate and drive change in the industry. Your nominee could be from a large company, where change is often harder to implement, or from a smaller company or startup where, this particular Agent of Change has taken technological innovation to heart and is creating opportunities that have the potential to change not just a company, but the world, for the better.

GENBAND Enables Carriers to Take On Silicon Valley

April 18, 2017

In 2010, we told you Genband has become a mini Alcatel-Lucent for all practical purposes and we couldn't help thinking of this, almost a decade later as we sat, discussing the latest happenings at the company. GENBAND is actually not only a company delivering hardware and software, they have become a cloud-enabler for carriers worldwide. For example, Deutsche Telekom has a consumer app based on Kandy.

Who is GENBAND today? They are becoming the ultimate enabler of carrier communications solutions.

CounterPath Bria-X Delivers Cost-Effective UCaaS Solution

April 16, 2017

In the 1990s Novell had a lock on servers in the enterprise. There was no Linux but SCO UNIX and IBM's AIX were the closest thing we had. Microsoft owned the desktop and parlayed their desktop position to oust Novell and rule not only desktops but servers.

This is what I thought of when I met with Todd Carothers of CounterPath. The company pretty much dominates the SIP soft-client space on mobile devices.

Now, as companies are moving to UCaaS, CounterPath sees an opportunity to parlay their strength in mobile software into a complete package.

Sennheiser Shows the Future of Work in NYC

April 3, 2017

Sennheiser
and furniture company Wilkhahn recently held a press conference at their pop-up store in Greenwich Village, NY where the audience was treated to great content and the ability to try some of the company's high-end audio products.

The presentation started with pictures which showed the evolution of the office - from tightly packed desks, to offices, to cubes and now more casual informal settings replete with couches, huddle rooms and a few quiet areas for serious work. In other words, our collaborative future.

The takeaway? Well, it wasn't all that different from what many of us heard in the keynote room of ITEXPO in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Companies are changing to suit the tastes of millennials.

10 Seismic Communications Trends Creating Billions in New Value

March 20, 2017

People need not apply in our brave new communications future

Communications was once a person-to-person mechanism allowing individuals to collaborate or share information with others. The move from traditional phone networks to VoIP, from wired to wireless, from voice to chat all involved two or more people at the ends of conversations.

The next wave however will represent the largest shift in our lifetimes - the most important communications innovations in the next decade will transcend people.

PRVibes: IoT Evolution, The Enterprise IoT Event

February 20, 2017

We were just reading the wrap-up from Calysto Communications. PRVibes of IoT Evolution Expo Florida 2017, a few weeks back on Fort Lauderdale. We are humbled by the nice comments - thanks to all of you for making the show a success... Sponsors, speakers, attendees, the TMC team and Crossfire Media.

Here are a few of the nicest comments worth sharing (emphasis added by us):
The real value of IoT, in our opinion and that of many of the analysts that we speak with on a regular basis, will be found in the enterprise.
