Sequans Powers Innovative Pinyon Tech LTE Hotspot

February 27, 2014

A very large market for 4G happens to be India but the catch is the population is extremely price-sensitive. In order to provide the country with a solution which maximizes the LTE opportunity for carriers, Pinyon Technologies partnered with Sequans Communications to develop the AirWire LTE WiFi dongle, a unique device designed primarily for home/business connectivity.

Unlike most LTE hotspots, this device is clamshell in nature and packs a relatively huge high-gain antenna. The benefit to carriers is that their towers can be more sparsely located or alternatively the device will use less power.

Customers deploying mobility solutions have a major challenge in deploying secure solutions to their clients in a BYOD environment. Vrsic said enterprises are looking to maximize the number of applications they roll out on mobile. She mentioned how healtchare is going mobile but we may not have envisioned this trend some years ago.

February 14, 2014

There are few products which I see which are worthy of me carrying with me everywhere but the Nomad CHARGEKEY is one such item as it fits in a wallet and allows you to charge an iOS Lightning device from any USB power source. There isn’t much to say about it beyond you need to have one with you for emergencies. Everyone who has a mobile device should go out and purchase one right now. It even fits on a keychain.

Blackberry's Smart Pivot to M2M

January 24, 2014

The machine to machine (M2M) market is growing rapidly – as sensors become cheaper to embed in our clothes, appliances, shipping containers and just about everything else. In fact, one estimate pegs the market as worth $88 billion in nine years from now. Hundreds of billions of sensors will soon be sold, presenting an opportunity like few others. More importantly, there is no market leader in the space big enough to block out everyone else.

Why You Should Be Bullish on Technology

January 22, 2014

In the past, the price of just about everything increased over time but thanks to technology, many products and services are getting progressively cheaper and in many cases, better. In the 1980s, you could have paid 25 cents per-minute for a domestic long-distance call and dollars per-minute for international long-distance. Not only has the price of a long-distance call dramatically decreased over time, today, IP communications assigns no per-minute cost to communicate. In fact, you can now use Skype to set up a free baby monitor a continent away with HD quality video and audio which puts the phone company's quality to shame.

JetBlue Customer Care - Even Ponzi Would Be Horrified

January 7, 2014

Having been unfortunate enough to be part of an eight-hour weather-related delay as a passenger of flight #411 on January 4, 2014, my fellow JetBlue customers and I found out just how amazingly crappy the airline's logistics and service levels could be.

After we lost an entire work-day each, we waited yet another hour for luggage to come out - when it finally did it was for a different flight... A cancelled flight.

Frequent tweets to the airline and calls from passengers met with rude responses infuriating my these passengers who tweeted about their experiences.

Braven Intros New Wireless Stereo System at CES 2104

January 7, 2014

Braven showed off an entire wireless home audio system at CES 2014 with a few twists to give you advantages over some of the other players in the market such as Sonos. The company's Vibe series pictured above features a sharp aluminum and black look to differentiate it from most everything on the market. Moreover, the speakers are battery operated and bluetooth-ready meaning they can be useful in applications where your home WiFi network doesn't exist.

If you like the industrial look of these systems and additional functionality of bluetooth integration and battery-operated speakers, then the Vibe system could be a good choice for you.

Tech Pioneer Philippe Khan Speaks at Wearable Tech Expo Next Week

December 5, 2013

Philippe Khan is one of the tech entrepreneurs and visionaries who really defines the term successful serial entrepreneur and inventor. In the 1980s he was CEO of Borland, the company which made a number of programming tools and eventually purchased Paradox, the most-popular full-featured PC database program. TMC, the company where I am CEO ran on both Turbo C and Paradox in the eighties and I was the person in charge of the programming and running IT at the time. I first used Turbo C in college on a 286 clone that I believe ran at 10 or 12 MHz. Thankfully Turbo C was a fast compiler.
