Blogger Hacked

Today is the day of hacks (see Skype Clone) – it seems the post late last night about Google exiting from the click to call business was hoax. Someone hacked into Blogger and impersonated Google. This is not the first time this has happened according to an email I received from Andy (related post) and Om questions whether there is a wider problem afoot with Blogger as this is not the first time this has happened. Hats off to blogger Michael Arrington from TechCrunch who was quick to postulate this post was a hack early on.

But one has to wonder why a person would derive any sort of enjoyment by spreading the word that Google is cancelling their click to call program. In the grand scheme of things is this such a big deal anyway? After all the world will keep spinning with or without this service provided by Google. This episode shows us once again it getting more and more difficult to build hack-proof software.

There was a lot of buzz surrounding a Google Blog post stating that the Google's click-to-call program was being cancelled. Apparently, it isn't true, but rather an unauthorized user logged onto Google Blog and made up the post. Here's an update... Read More

Evidently Arrington does not timestamp his entries. So it is not clear when he wrote his entry. But he states that the offending entry has been deleted from Google's blog. So he need not postulate it; it is kind of obvious. It would have been nice if the tip of the hat was also given to the person who posted as a comment to Om's entry so that the confusion stops then and there. :-)

I also wish that you took exception at Google for not posting a clarifying entry as they deleted the offending post.

ha ha ha.

Maybe they heard our Mexuar Corraleta application is being launched on October the 24th at Astricon in Dallas and realised their solution was last generation crap.
