Google is the best company in the world at complex search, by far. Hands down. They do it better than anyone. Yahoo and Microsoft have thrown billions at projects which they hoped would allow them to catch up with Google. Still, Google is better and if marketshare is an indicator, they are gaining on all competitors.
So when Google’s attorney’s respond to a court request for emails by stating the following, you have to scratch your head:
“Google can perform such a search, but because of its e-mail system, it cannot do so as easily and inexpensively as other, similarly situated companies.”
What does this really mean? probably nothing. Companies generally don’t want to produce documents for court fishing expeditions and there coulld always be confidential information which could accidcentally be sent whenever internal emails are shared.
Still, this is very ironic and quite funny.
