Must Read: iPhone Keyboard Better Than G1?

My two mobile devices are the HTC XV6800 and iPhone. I use the iPhone for data and the XV6800 as my voice phone. This works out well as Verizon has a much better network and I have few dropped calls if any. In a situation where I need data access and AT&T doesn’t work, I use the Skyfire browser on the XV6800.

I also use the XV6800 to download email before my flight takes off because unlike the iPhone I can delete email when not connected to a network.

I also use the XV6800 when I need to cut and paste from an email into another app. It is really incredible that the iPhone doesn’t allow cut and paste yet but I suppose there is no elegant way to pull this off without an additional button, switch etc.

I must say I find myself mumbling obscenities to myself whenever I have to use the iPhone keyboard for more than a few seconds. The HTC keyboard on the other hand is a delight and better than most Blackberrys I have used.

So I read with interest the post from Jason D. O’Grady where he says the iPhone keyboard is better than the G1 which is also from HTC. I do not doubt his reporting mind you – it just flies in the face of logic that a virtual keyboard can be better than a real one.

I too have used the G1 and don’t recall if I thought it was as terrible but in comparing the picture he provides in his blog with the keyboard on my device it seems the G1 gadget has more space between the keys making it theoretically better for typing long documents.

I think his entry is an interesting perspective and a must read.

I must say, I am still 100% behind devices which have a keyboard option and I think the XV6800 has one of the best keyboards around – so far.
