The TMC team never sleeps and as soon as yesterday had posted over a dozen interviews of some of the movers and shakers in the service provider and enterprise communications space. These interviews were from ITEXPO East 2009 which took place this week in Miami.

Durung these intervies it becomes evident why IP communications is doing well and moreover, where the greatest opportunities lie.

Come Meet the Thought Leaders at ITEXPO

One of the most important parts of any conference is the networking... The potential to meet and speak with thought leaders in numerous markets at one time in one place. This year's ITEXPO has more thought leaders than any prior TMC event I can remember.

Although I cannot duplicate the actual conversations you might want to have with people at the show, I did try to come up with a way for you to get a feel for many of the speakers and exhibitors at the show by asking them questions I think are of interest.

Glowpoint's Aspiring Global Video Community

Recently Glowpoint put out the news they had record call volumes and I thought it made sense to learn more so I interviewed the company's CEO Michael Brandofino. The company plays in spaces which have been resistant to the slowing economy - namely videoconferencing, telepresence and contact centers.

I should mention Glowpoint has a market cap of just under $15 million as I write this article but in the last year, its performance has been down 33% which is better than down 36% for Cisco.

You Just Thought of Making Profit Now?

More calls, more CEOs, more problems. There seem to be more and more companies coming out of the woodwork who now realize they need to focus on sales and marketing in 2009 for their survival. It seems these companies founded themselves for the sole purpose of being sold to Cisco and other solid companies and now those dreams have slowed or in some cases vanished.

Yes, the big tech companies are still purchasing but if they don't pick you up now, there are limited opportunities for future funding.

I get these calls and all I can think is "You're waiting until the middle of the recession to start thinking about how you get customers?" I could say more but the sheer lunacy of the whole situation doesn't allow me to articulate without peppering my writing with obscenities.
