I purchased a Mosquito Magnet Liberty Plus

I purchased a Mosquito Magnet Liberty Plus recently as the whole West Nile scare has gotten to and I wanted to do whatever possible to reduce the risk. I believe it was Consumer Reports that said that there is no proof that these devices catch the mosquitoes responsible for carrying West Nile. Regardless, I went out and purchased one jut in case. I was going to write about how bad the product was because I couldnt get it to work after reading the manual repeatedly and thoroughly. A brief discussion with tech support told me that most problems are caused by using propane exchange stations instead of pumping real propane. Problem solved. I switched to a new tank of propane and it worked perfectly. I just checked it after a few weeks and it is literally loaded with what I assume to be biting insects. Of course the web site doesnt say anything regarding this propane requirement and the literature that comes with the device is devoid of this info as well. Someone in marketing should fix this issue ASAP. I almost smashed the unit and gave up. Thankfully I called tech support instead. Highly recommended with fresh propane.

I was able to grab one up at a decent price as well from these folks too: mosquito
magnet . The ammount of skeeters the trap accumulated was unbelievable.

I purchased the Mosquito Magnet Pro Cordless model 2 years ago.

1-Year 1 it worked fine.

2-Year 2 I had to send it back because it would not start. They reconditioned it and it worked for the remainder of the season.

3- This year I started it and it ran for a day and I received the weak battery message. I charged it again for 48 hours and got the same result.I tried to contact the company only to find out they are out of business and the company who purchased selected assets are not supporting this model. I called the new company's customer service and they suggested that the battery is not holding the charge. I purchased a new battery and it ran for 30 hours and I ultimately received the same weak battery message.

Should I through the machine out and live with the mosquitos or do you have a suggestion to remedy this problem.

Thanks,
Michael

I am sorry. I do not have a remedy. A friend also found out his unit is no longer supported but he found parts from a local dealer. Batteries are a tougher problem as they need to be fresh to work correctly. Perhaps all the batteries for this unit are old? The only thing that comes to mind is finding the equivalent battery somewhere that is hopefully fresher. Good luck.

Hello. Nice to meet you.

Though I intended to buy it, i reconsider once again.

There is difficulty of the management more than the expectation, isn't there?

Served as a reference very much, because user's informations of using it are less in Japan.

Very Thanks!

I bought the Mosquito magnet Libery model and it was the biggest waste of money. After reading many blogs, it seems that some units work well but many others don't do anything at all. After having the unit replaced once under warranty, the second unit worked for half a propane tank and then the fault indicator lights came on. After much discussion with the service department and trying several CO2 canisters to "clear" any potential blockage, yada try-this-and-that yada, the system never worked properly. After being so hopeful for a mosquito solution since we have so many mosquitos in my area, I was left poorer and with a solid recommendation for everyone to avoid this product. Try anything else. Run away from this one.

I bought one of these several years ago and went through 4 units and non worked very long. Is there anyone out there that wants to take legal action for such a poor product?

Hello,

Can you give me more info on what you wold do to repair the power neg situation? I was going to get new (green color) batteries to try first, as I was told the black color ones are 3-4 yrs old now. Please help, Rachel

Without going into details, the unit is a piece of shit. Some law firm might want to look at the feasibility of a class action?

so how do i fix it....??

I have had one LIBERTY for 4-5 years now...kept it dry in winter, used pumped Propane (not exchange)... worked very well with no down time of any kind. Mosquito population really decreased in our swampy neighborhood too with two other neighbors each using a magnet too.
But this year...did not keep the machine dry all winter...and now after one sucessful tank of propane, I can not get it to run. Think the propane line has debris (as indicated from their online manual). I do not have the CO2 cartrige system to clean it out...I was wondering if simple compressed air will do as well? Any clues?
