I am still here at IMPACT NOW. The exhibit hall is open and doing quite well. This is a very successful event with a good deal of buzz in the exhibit hall (see photo). It is interesting to contrast the negativity of Wall Street and many US industries which are having tough times with how well this event is doing. There is tremendous activity. This is a very good sign that resellers are still optimistic about selling communications, technology and POS products.
I have no illusions that there will be challenges ahead. Nortel's loss of $3.4 billion is horrifying and on the scale of what is happening at US automakers. Some people at this show have mentioned it seems Cisco is taking share from the Canadian telecom company and this wouldn't be a big surprise as Cisco seems to be more resistant to this downturn.
