MultiTech has an SMS appliance which allows a company to utilize SMS messaging but from a web interface. You could set it up so it responds to an SMS with information. For example, traffic in an area.
You can also set it up to send a broadcast SMS to a group. Finally you can set it up to send SMS messages regarding a house for sale.
It can do a lot more. Check Google for more info.
