Airline Top Ten List

February 17, 2005

Another day another airplane and while frequent flyer miles are great to have, I prefer using them to receiving them. Business travel is a fact of life but I wonder if it could get better. Worse than the travel is the coinstant delay and on this flight we had to wait an extra hour on the tarmac for no apparent reason. When we finally took off, I decided to come up with the top things I want to hear the captain say while flying.

Grammys

February 13, 2005

If you think society hasn’t been changed forever by the Internet you didn’t see the Grammys tonight. I just witnessed a montage of multitasked songs from Maroon 5 and other bands (I am so unhip, I didn’t know the others). The songs were actually interlaced, meaning a song went on for a minute and then another band started up and another band played in-between the spaces in the other bands singing and so on.

10 years ago everyone would have changed the channel. Today, probably most of the audience was on their laptops or reading or eating or conversing or whatever we all do now since we are so used to getting input from multiple sources at once.

This national ADD is contagious and it is going worldwide.

Audi A6

February 12, 2005

I recently rented a car from Hertz and can’t believe how much they charge these days. This latest rental was botched pretty bad due to Hertz mistakes and I probably wasn’t the most pleasant customer to deal with as I was late and about to miss a meeting. The agent behind the desk upgraded me to an Audi A6. I didn’t like it at first but it grew on me quickly and I loved the car after a few days.

Sideways

February 12, 2005

So I saw Sideways last night. I don’t know what it was about before I saw it and am not sure I know more now. The movie might have been an insightful look inside the human soul or the comparison of vastly different personalities thrown together in the giant salad bowl of life.

Or perhaps it was just a stupid movie that I tried endlessly to understand. I am not sure if I was bored during the movie or perhaps trying to figure out why it was made.

McDonald's Credit Cards

February 9, 2005

I went to McDonald's today and something interesting happened. The location I chose to go to was on I95 which is located in Darien, CT. I am told these two McDonald's, one on either side of the highway are some of the busiest restaurants the company has. While I don’t know if this is true, the restaurant is always busy.

I don’t go to this location too often and when I do I always give them my credit card and they always reject it. I always persisted.

A Safe Landing on Song

February 9, 2005

We got back from Orlando this AM and I was blown away at how Song Airlines has altered the behavior of my entire team. Most of us hate flying and have an allegiance to American Airlines. For whatever reason and I assume it is cost-related our travel person booked us on this airline for the first time.

The flight down was flawless and the flight back was even better. We had leather seats and TV and ample leg room.
