McDonald's Credit Cards

February 9, 2005

I went to McDonald's today and something interesting happened. The location I chose to go to was on I95 which is located in Darien, CT. I am told these two McDonald's, one on either side of the highway are some of the busiest restaurants the company has. While I don’t know if this is true, the restaurant is always busy.

I don’t go to this location too often and when I do I always give them my credit card and they always reject it. I always persisted.

A Safe Landing on Song

February 9, 2005

We got back from Orlando this AM and I was blown away at how Song Airlines has altered the behavior of my entire team. Most of us hate flying and have an allegiance to American Airlines. For whatever reason and I assume it is cost-related our travel person booked us on this airline for the first time.

The flight down was flawless and the flight back was even better. We had leather seats and TV and ample leg room.

Boring Apprentice, Nescafe

February 4, 2005

I can’t fathom how boring a TV show could be. Last night marked the worst apprentice I have ever seen. Neither group did anything interesting and the task last night of promoting Nescafe Coffee was fairly similar to the toothpaste (was it Crest Whitening Expressions) assignment from a while back.

Sadly, the performance on this event didn’t even measure up to the “toothpaste” episode.

The Apprentice: Toilet Guy

January 28, 2005

Last night was the first episode I saw on the new season and "saw" might be a strong word as I was blogging and scanning news and responding to e-mail and trying to keep my baby daughter from banging on the keyboard of my laptop at the same time. From what I gathered, this person Brian who was fired, should not have been admitted on the show. How does the hiring process work over there anyway? I always thought the more resumes you got the better candidates you find. This guy was abrasive, arrogant and lacked common sense. He was busy spending a good percentage of the budget on unnecessary toilet changes at the expense of things like carpet and mattresses. As one of his former apprentice colleagues pointed out so eloquently (and I paraphrase) "He wasted all that money on toilets so people can #%$^* on them."

Blog Withdrawal

January 24, 2005

If no one has coined the phrase yet, let me be the first… Blog Withdrawal or the inability to share your thoughts with millions (ok I may be getting a bit ambitious here) or at least thousands of people. I blogged thrice on the airplane and couldn’t post anything and nothing could be more frustrating.

To make matters worse there was a three-hour or so delay once we boarded. I knew we were in for a bad time when I opened my Bistro Bag and found and ice scraper and mini-shovel.

Sennheiser PXC 250

January 24, 2005

The people at Sennheiser were nice enough to send TMC a pair of their PXC 250 noise canceling headphones for review and I had the pleasure of using them on a trip out to Las Vegas. Quite simply I am not sure how I traveled without this nifty gadget before. Frequently throughout the trip I took the headphones off and marveled at how loud reality really is. In addition the headset is light and small, perhaps half the size or less than the bulkiest units on the market.

Lead Generation Specialist

January 22, 2005

I found a new title in my travels. The Lead Generation Manager or Specialist. I had never ever seen this title before in all my travels and interaction with companies. So it is interesting to see numerous companies coming to the conclusion that they need a new class of person to help generate new sales.
