Telecom Italia Mobile Goes Solar

July 14, 2009

While communications and technology solutions have the ability to drastically reduce costs associated with travel by simulating trips via conferencing - telepresence, etc... The reality is technology is also responsible for more and more energy use. Think about all the computers and consumer electronics devices in use today and you realize why you always seem to have too few outlets in your home and office.

A great trend I am seeing is the use of alternative power solutions to minimize energy use while still allowing communications and technology progress.

How to Sell Communications Products This Fall

July 10, 2009

I know we are in a recession and everything is supposed to be gloom and doom, etc. but please indulge me as I remind many of you just how important it is in these tough times to get new customers.

It is for this reason I feel compelled to remind you ITEXPO has become the world's communications conference - the place you need to go to find new products and services. As a result, vendors/exhibitors were thrilled with ITEXPO in Miami this past January.

I am forever amazed at the creativity of human beings. Look at all the companies we have produced. The trillions of dollars of wealth we have created. It is amazing that our combined genius has dramatically raised the standard of living worldwide over the last 100 years.

How Swine Flu Started

April 30, 2009

It may be too soon to find humor in a global pandemic but sometimes you just need to laugh.

Swine Flu Evolution

April 29, 2009

If you are interested in evolution and/or swine flu, check out this well-written article which details how swine flu is evolving before our eyes to be spread between pigs and humans and then humans and humans.

Those people who don't believe in evolution may have  tough time understanding/explaining how swine flu spreads.

Welcome Back Patrick Barnard

April 24, 2009

I would like to welcome back Patrick Barnard to the TMC editorial team. Patrick has covered a number of different editorial areas at TMC over the years and recently left TMC to work on Multichannel Merchant. He is now back and his return is just a continuing reinforcement of how TMC is continually investing in its editorial talent -- just as we are constantly evolving our web technology, graphics, analytics, reporting and more.

Thanks to influential readers like you TMC has been blessed with hundreds of advertisers and exhibitors each year who partner with TMC to grow -- even in the face of challenging economic conditions.

We take sponsor and reader loyalty seriously -- looking to constantly improve to provide you with the best products we can.

Good and Bad Green News

April 16, 2009

I have some good and bad news about the green movement. The bad news first... If you buy a car that is very small and hit a car that is bigger and/or heavier, the smaller vehicle will likely be worse off than the larger/heavier vehicle as a result of the impact. So if you are being exceptionally green by picking a car based on small size, you are more likely to get hurt or killed in an accident.

TMCnet for iPhone, Asia, Jobs, Cable, Satellite and More

April 15, 2009

As TMCnet has expanded I have to admit it is tough to keep track of all the sites we have which can help you in your job. To that end I decided to take a moment and list some of them which you may not be aware of. I thought this entry made sense as I have received some comments about how TMC should launch some of the sites listed below. This shows me there are just so many things we do that our 2-3 million unique visitors each month may not be aware of.

Surgeries Move to Twitter

April 13, 2009

In a world where it has become commonplace to digitally detail the events of our daily lives, it should come as no surprise that operations are being Twittered live. Most recently Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center announced it will will broadcast a bi-lateral knee replacement surgery April 16, 2009 at 9:00 EST. If you can't get enough of bloody surgery on TV, this Wisconsin-based hospital will let you take it with you LIVE! Here are the links...
