What if Someone is Trying to Steal This Data?

Google apologized for inadvertently collecting passwords, phone numbers, emails and other personal information with its street view cars. My question is what if they or worse – a malicious party is actually trying to get their hands on this data? Since we know Google has scanned WiFi networks all over the world, wouldn’t it be nice if they could let the owners of unsafe WiFi networks know that their unencrypted, personal information is floating around the airwaves for anyone to tap into?
