Here is a blog entry from Tom Keating on the FON router community and an SMC Skype phone that takes advantage of this new network of WiFi routers. Apparently – according to Tom -- you can even win a FON router and one of these nifty phones if you fill out a brief survey.
It is amazing to see the concept of peer to peer being extended from software into the real world. The FON network sound like something really interesting but I wonder if there will be security issues as this network becomes more popular.
Unfortunately there are always bad people looking top exploit good ideas such as this.

Unfortunately, there will be people trying to exploit EVERYTHING. I'm interested in seeing how this technology develops, though. Sounds like a nifty new tool for telecommunications.
