Speech Rec Reduces Danger

There is an artilce in today's NY Times titled Hands on the Wheel, Not on the Blackberry Keys, which focuses on the fines different states will impose on users who text while driving.

I know of coworkers and others who increasing text message in traffic.

The question worth asking is when speech recognition will make it easy to text using voice. The technology to make this happen exists today and I have seen it demonstrated from companies like Cisco and others.

I just wonder when speech rec will go mainstream allowing us to text with voice in a simple and inexpensive manner.

Another possibile technological solution to our crackberry addiction is smarter cars which will do the driving for us, allowing us to watch TV, text and e-mail to our heart's content.
