Stopping McMansions

I was reading this article today about the proliferation of huge homes on small lots and since many of the cities mentioned in the article such as Westport, Greenwich and New Canaan are located a stones throw from TMC’s Norwalk headquarters, I thought it worth sharing. The gist is it is ok to have a monster mansion on lots of land but not on a puny parcel.

I have been house-hunting and looked at some tract mansions. At first, they seemed a good deal for the money per square foot. But now they seem rather pretentious; and having toured inside of these homes, they are very cheaply built. Cheap building materials are used and some of them have safety hazards (loose stair bannisters). Some of these brand new homes are literally falling apart already. Amazing.
