Tadiran Aeonix UC: A Unique Play for the Channel and MSPs

April 11, 2016

Tadiran has always tried to out-innovate its way to success. In fact they have recently innovated on a few fronts at the same time. Their Aeonix UCC solution is proudly offered on the Amazon Marketplace – one of the few available on this platform. Interestingly, when I did a search for the term PBX, Tadiran doesn’t show up.

Vonage Goes Full Speed Ahead to Major Global Phone Company

April 9, 2016

I predicted the purchase of M5 by ShoreTel back in 2012 could get Vonage to consider going after the business space and a year later they purchased Vocalocity and a suite of companies to enable them to not only target the small business market but all the way up to the largest of the large companies. In an exclusive interview with Clark Peterson, President of Vonage Business Solutions, I got to learn a great deal about what is happening at the company.

Through three channel-based companies they purchased, they now 600,000 business seats as compared to 1.9 million on the residential side. Clark touted the fact that his company has better financial stability than most of the others in the space.

NTT DATA Adds Dell Services. Touts Cloud Offering, NFV Success and Agent Growth

April 3, 2016

There is some interesting timing in NTT DATA’s decision to purchase Dell Services in order to become a leading Global IT service provider. Before we get to that however, it’s worth noting the deal is valued at more than $3 billion has already helped Dell’s debt reduction and a ratings increase as it acquires EMC.

For NTT, The combined companies will offer expanded BPO capabilities with a focus on the healthcare and insurance markets.

Other benefits of the acquisition will include an increased infrastructure platform footprint, with Dell’s U.S., U.K.

ShoreTel Connect Brings its Signature Simplicity to Hybrid Cloud Communications

March 24, 2016

Simplicity is one of the reasons ShoreTel emerged on the corporate communications scene and became a dominant player in a market once virtually owned by the likes of Avaya, Nortel, Cisco and Mitel. The company has also done a great job evolving its platform to keep up with the times. In 2011 TMCnet broke the news about ShoreTel Mobility for example – extending the ability of your communications system to live on your mobile device (see video below).

Cant't get enough of these?

Level 3's SDN-Powered Instant-Bandwidth is here

March 13, 2016

Programmable networking (with an emphasis on analytics)! That was the message from Travis Ewert (pictured), SVP of Network Software Development for Level 3. You’ll have to excuse my exaggerated use of punctuation. Travis didn’t really exclaim or scream about programmable networking but he was very excited about to discuss how Level 3 is able to use its SDN control-layer to more flexibly provide bandwidth than other players in the space.

Sonus Says Dial Plans Are A hot Product These Days

March 13, 2016

I just had a fascinating conversation with Sonus – they company responsible in-part for getting carriers to adopt IP communications is now seeing something very interesting happen. The company’s PSX or Centralized Routing and Policy Server is gaining interest among customers. The reason? They are looking to integrate their disparate IP communications systems together into a unified solution.

BroadSoft's Big Opportunity: Contact Centers

March 13, 2016

After spending more than a decade selling solutions which allow carriers to resell UC solutions, BroadSoft has decided the call center is its next big opportunity. By acquiring Transera, BroadSoft is positioned well to provide cloud-based call center solutions to not only customers but carriers themselves. In addition, these solutions will be scalable as BroadWorks is known for scaling to million so users.

In my meeting was Prem Uppaluru, who founded Transera – the cloud contact center company which BroadSoft acquired.

CafeX Looks to Solve Biggest Video Collaboration Challenges

March 13, 2016

WebRTC has been an incredible driver of interoperability in real-time communications but it still won’t work across every browser. CafeX Communications has been working on solving this problem for years and now has a new solution called Chime which it hopes becomes the ultimate cross-platform, browser-powered video solution.

I spoke with Sajeel Hussain about the new solution and he emphasized that it works with Microsoft Edge and can interwork with in-room systems from Cisco and also work with Microsoft Skype for Business. In addition, he emphasized companies can save 75% on their bandwidth utilization as Chime can cluster four video sessions as a single session which connects to the MCU.

Dialpad is Reborn from Switch.co

March 7, 2016

Dialpad

was one of the coolest services ever… It allowed you in the 1990s to call any number in the US for free via the web. It caught fire around the world and was one of the first viral hits on the web. If was an app, it would likely be worth north of $100 billion today but sadly, there were no ultra-successful app stores at the time. And if memory serves, our phones weren’t smart, all they did was allow us to flip them open and talk.

Craig Walker, became a founding investor in the company and later sold it to Yahoo.

Tangoe Goes on the Mobility-as-a-Service Offensive at MWC16

March 4, 2016

Tangoe
was one of the leading players in the TEM or telecom expense management space when it launched and did a superior job of rolling up the market and becoming the leader in what is now the enterprise mobility management (EMM) market. The company’s CEO, Al Subbloie (pictured) is never afraid to innovate and be ahead of the pack. In fact, we’ve been covering companies he’s run since the 1980s (alas, I can’t find any articles on the internet earlier than this). Tangoe’s new Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) offering will leverage its position within the enterprise marketplace to offer wireless plans, devices, expense management, EMM and logistics to create an integrated mobile solution.
