TMC editors in San Jose Next Week

Next Week, my team and I will be hosting meetings in San Jose where the technology and communications markets will have unprecedented access to TMC editors and the ability to tell their story in TMC's video newsroom. Since I blogged about the opportunity a while back we have already scheduled over 60 meetings. We are subsequently flying more of our team out to the west coast to handle the meetings. The good news is there is still some more space left for meetings now that we have decided to send more resources cross-country from our headquarters in Connecticut.

Moreoever, this event now has networking potential meaning you will not only meet editors but others in the industry.

Invitation Only Video Interviews in San Jose with TMC

OK - it is kind of weird to call it "invitation only" if I am blogging about it but somehow it doesn't seem right to not let you know that TMC will be on-hand in Silicon Valley performing a host of video interviews with the best and brightest minds in tech and communications at the San Jose Marriott Tues, JULY 13th - Thurs, JULY 15th.

Looking for CXOs in DC/Maryland for Video Interviews

Attention readers - in our never-ending quest to keep TMC's growing audience up to date on the latest happenings in the market we will be in DC with our video crew next week interviewing companies in the Baltimore and Washington DC area. We are looking for CEOs, CMOs, and Presidents at companies which are in the tech and/or communications spaces. This includes 4G, satellite, cable, etc. Here is a sample of what the finished video will look like.

TMC Gets Written up in Norwalk Hour Newspaper

I am fortunate that I get to speak reporters about my company from time to time and whenever I do I always worry until the article comes out. Reporters are busy (speaking from experience) and they don't always get all the facts right. I always blame myself when this happens - after all if you communicate in a clear, concise manner with an organized, structured system of segueing between topics, it is much easier to follow.

Personally I have sat in briefings with charismatic tech leaders who spend 30 minutes talking and when I look at my notes, I wonder what the heck was said.

AT&T's new Data Plans Good for Wireless Investment?

As Gary Kim points out, AT&T will soon be revamping its data rates and plans for iPad users. Currently the plan is $30 for an unlimited amount of data per month. Going forwards, DataPlus will provide 200 MB of data for $15 per month (additional 200 MB chunks of data also cost $15), and DataPro, which provides 2 GBytes of data for $25 per month, with every additional GByte costing $10.

I do my best to wish every TMC a team member a Happy TMC Anniversary and as such the start date of all of our full-time members are in my calendar so I can be the one to send them this greeting (If I forgot you in the past - please accept my apologies). Last week I noticed that it was the anniversary of Nadji Tehrani, the company Founder & Chairman, my father and the person who decided to start this company in 1972. Funny, I never noticed his start date on my calendar before - and it occurred to me that this was TMC's 38-year anniversary.

It is no secret that I have been hearing great things about the future of the optical market. Check out this post for optimistic interviews regarding the space with Hunter Newby of Allied Fiber and Jim Theodoras of Adva Optical Networking. Between the need for faster enterprise and consumer broadband connections and the need for more backhaul capacity to satisfy the needs of an ever-growing number of 3G and eventually 4G devices, the need for speed is real and consumers and businesses are paying for it.

The new iPad 3G I just picked up with its corresponding $30/month connection should be a reminder to the skeptics of the insatiable desire for bandwidth on-the-go.

TV Disruption to Happen More Slowly Than You Think

Bill explains in well-thought out detail that affiliate fees will block disruption for many years. In other words, the television market via fees paid by affiliates such as cable companies are worth - $32 billion/year.
