I know this has nothing to do with tech but I think it is pretty funny that reporters decided to squirt water in the face of Tom Cruise. In this article they say you don’t squirt water in Tom Cruise’s face and while I agree you shouldn’t do this, there is just something about his behavior lately that makes this whole incident something I can’t stop laughing at. If I every start to profess my love so frequently and forcefully and publicly in the future, I will understand if someone tries to douse me back to reality as well.

Tom Cruise is an empty-headed movie star
of quite average intelligence.
And his only knowledge is derived from
the cult to which he belongs.
Rod Geary
Poor Tom he is in love...not realizing probably what he is saying...
if you haven't heard of it already, you should check out the Tom Cruise Blog:
http://tomcruiseblog.blogspot.com
(Tom Cruise's blog)
A Scientologist with liquor store owners from Kentucky named Batman for great-grandparents. What do you expect?
Tom Cruise, you're a freak! How can you profess to know everything about psychiatry? You obviously know nothing about it. You only know what your cult leader, L. Ron Hubbard wants you to think. You were totally disrespectful to Matt Lauer and showed your true twisted self. I refuse to put any of my money in your pockets and will never see another one of your movies again. You are a hypocrit and a sorry excuse for a human being. Do us all a favor and drop off the face of the earth.
Tom Cruise is an irresponsible ass. First of all. It is against the law to talk about other people's medical issues with others unless given explicit written permission to do so. Second of all, Tom Cruise states that he knows the history of psychology.....What qualifies him to make derogetory statements about someone elses medical history or conditions? Because he knows the history of Psychology?....I think not. He doesn't know SQUAT. I USED to like Tom Cruise, in fact, I used to love it when people told me I bare a resemblance to Tom Cruise. I USED to take it as a compliment. Now, I take it as an insult. Tom Cruise has made an ass of himself publicly and I wouldn't doubt it if his career now goes to pot. Grow up, Tom. Mind your own business. Jerk.
Dave
Cruise out of favor, Tom Cruise!
Be very careful what you say, Tom. You wield a power over the masses, which includes young children.
Do you even know what depression is? Have you studied psychiatry? Are you a medical doctor? Have you read through all the research conducted on serotonin?
Do you know how it affects a human being?
Do you even know how much parents go through before they can get their teenager to take the medication he badly needs?
And then, you come and claim that there is no such a thing as chemical imbalance?
Do you even know, with one careless interview, you jeopardize young children's lives?
Do you know what anorexia is? Or obsessive compulsive disorder?
How a parent has to struggle to make the child understand how a celebrity can use or misuse the power of his/her words.
Thank God for Angelina Jolie and her work in Afghanistan, that I could cite her as the celebrity who uses her power positively and YOU, as the worst celebrity, who in one stroke, undos days/months/years of effort that brings smiles and happiness to a human's face.
I dont care about how successful your movies are, you, Tom Cruise, have fallen from my eyes forever.
And so speaketh every woman who read or heard your interview!
They have the best network and are using this advantage to maximize profits. I hate the company and love them at the same time. I can talk in so many places that other providers don't have access to. I think they are making some very smart short-term decisions. If they matched all the offers the other cell phone companies offered they would do even better in the long run.
Tom Cruise is accused of discussing Scientology rhetoric and ideology, but a lot of what he is discussing is really scientific fact. The public has been mislead as to the efficacy of anti-depressants as well as the root cause for depressive symptoms. Tom's basic argument is not based on ideology but clinical studies, including the ones made by the drug companies. The facts support much of what Tom is saying and although it is easy to attack his narcisstic lifestyle and pop icon status, he isn't lying or preaching. It's easy to take a reactionary stance or defend a decision to take a drug, but that doesn't mean it's a position based on facts. The facts are that most anti-depressants have little (incrementally minute) better results than taking a sugar pill. It is also a fact that they have serious side-effects and withdrawl symptoms that marginalize any positive effects they may have. The problem with any healing treatment or philosophy, whether Tom's or the Drug industries' is an all or nothing point of view. Some people may find benefits and suffer few side effects or withdrawl when taking an anti-depressant. But clinical studies indicate that this is a minority experience. Don't attack Tom's science and call it Scientology. Tom is presenting an articulate and courageous point of view that is seldom heard and yet based on facts. Ask yourself why the profiteers control popular opinion, while the scientific facts support Tom's basic argument. Oh yeah, it's about money. Why isn't the free press covering the facts in the argument instead of the sensationalistic aspects of our pop culture? Oh yeah it's about money. Why don't we understand the full effects of what we ingest or get numbed out by a voice over detailing at the end of a commercial (May cause diareah, nausea, headaches, blah, blah, blah) The dialogue is not in the commercial because it's not true. But people ignore it anyway. Why do more people and physicians turn to popularized and heavily marketed drug treatments every day, even when they don't work as well as some non-drug treatments. Oh yeah, it's about money. Drug companies don't have an obligation to heal or act in the public's best interest, but an obligation to make profits. The medical doctors took an oath to be our healers and look out for our best interests but prostituted our goodwill for their own profits and to feed their egos as all knowing. These anti-depressants are being prescribed by mainly general practitioners who don't even have the expertise, knowledge or experience by their own industry standards to justify such a diagnosis as depression, or post-partum depression. One of the most serious problems with depressive symptoms, widely acknowledged by both science and medicine is misdiagnosis. Drug treatments can be negative to some conditions that have depressive symptoms, like Bipolar disorder. Or mask dealing with the real issues that caused these depressive symptoms, like with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. But all we hear about is Tom's a wacko. Wake up everyone.
This was the point that Tom Cruise didn’t make. Do you know how much prescription drugs are worth to Big Pharma? On a world wide basis about a trillion + dollars. How much do you suppose the pharmaceutical companies spend advertising drugs on TV, Radio, Magazines and News media? Do you think that they want to protect this income? Right now Ritalin is being dispensed in schools under the guise of treating over active children. Ritalin is a mild form of amphetamine and of course as time goes by that doesn’t “work” the school psychologist then prescribes amphetamines and the end product is the teenager becomes a drug addict and a lifetime client. Please don’t believe me but take the time to research, Google is a great tool for this. Regards Michael Hammond
I have heard this argument before and believe there is some merit in it. Of course not all drugs are bad and the drug industry definitely benefits from selling as many drugs as possible.
I think the point would have been made much better if Cruise was more civil about how he spoke. Telling Matt Lauer that he knows the history of psychology and he doesn’t is not a good way to get a point across.
For such a likable actor that could sell ice to Eskimos on the big screen, I think his antics caught us all off guard. If someone scripted Cruise to help him make his point he would have had a potentially positive effect on the population as a whole and may have started a beneficial national dialogue.
What an unbelievable idiot - he can barely put two complete intelligent thoughts together (as you can see on Oprah and his interview with Lauer) - he couldn't think of anything more substantial to say about Katie other than 'she's amazing' a gazillion time - um, I guess someone acting like an ape on a couch can't think much more than one - maturity for him is not there - he couldn't say two proper sentences about his kids, you just stared at him going 'I wonder if he actually has an IQ' - I am sure her parents are going "OH MY GOD" and Nicole's parents are saying "Good ridance".
Tom Cruise needs to understand what made him a super celebrity is the same thing that could bring him down. Tom could fall from grace very rapidly (ala Dixie Chicks ) if he believes he has the latitude to persuade or promote his own ethical, moral, or political values. As Mr. Blue Collar, I don't give a rat's patoot what he thinks about what is within the realm of medical science. He is there solely for my entertainment. When he no longer provides that for me, I move on. To paraphrase one of his own characters, he "shoplifted the pootie".
You should not make serious comments about something that you have no real knowledge of unless you are a professional or you are going through the experience of depression. I am so sick of people acting like they know everything. Just because you, Tom, are an actor, and make a load of money.....doesn't make you a professional when it comes to depression. Who are you to say anything regarding this matter? You should take a long look in the mirror, you are human too. You are not better than any of the people who surround you or pay for your entertainment. I use to be a big fan of yours, now, I am disgusted by you. I don't understand people like yourself. Ever since you started in this new "Religion", you have been acting like you know best. Sorry to tell you, you don't. And the religion you are in is bogus. My opinion. I have read up on it, and I do not agree with alot of what is said. But again, my opinion. I do not know all the facts I am sure, and neither do you....especially when it comes to depression. Keep your mouth shut about things you do not truly understand.
Clinical depression is the most painful disease in the universe.
Maybe the stigma for the disease is not so big,but the deforming effect of disease's symptoms make it really huge and a big barrier against asking medical treatment. When you have the symptoms,a scrap of stigma can make you even suicidal.Remember:Outline,is a psychiatric illness as a result of
holdback through interruption of serotonin transmission in the neuronal serotoninergic pathways in the brain, and THAT dysfunction change the BEHAVIOUR of the person. This dysfunction causes an extremely overwhelming emotional pain with the form of inferiority feelings, worthlessness, hopelessness which is(with absolut mathematical way)capable to make a person to commit suicide. But
treatment can correct this dysfunction in the brain, and when
this happens symptoms go away. It's a psychiatric cruel illness
BUT TREATABLE.The person live the absolut hell until drug treatment works after a month, but it is not sure if he(she) will endure the pain. She(he)will be absolut justified if commits suicide. It is a matter of luck if the person doesn't die by his own will(suicidal pain is the greatest in the whole universe).Ja,all this is a madness, but a madness caused by neurological dysfunction like migraine and so treatable!SWITCH!
[Opened circuit-versus-Closed circuit]=[overwhelming emotional pain and other symptoms-versus-normal feeling].Yet science is not able to get this "circuit" weaving immediately(only in some cases with Electroconvulsive Therapy). If some people continue the war against mental illness AT THAT CASE ,even if sounds stupit, someday
we(people that get treatment for mental illnesses)will hamper other people to get treatment for physical illnesses, even if there is the posibility to hit us such an illnesses. We will take this risk
as they take the same risk, that mistakenly believe that they are immune to mental illness and they take the huge risk to harm people with health problems. If people like cruise continue to do this, this kind of war will be unavoidable( THIS!!).Health is a section that disrespect is completely
unacceptable. Is a crime. Is not a matter of personal opinions. They don't have the right to have their opinions in
such, such, such sensitive subjects. An other thing about depression is that IS NOT A MODERN ILLNESS,depression also can
plug a child 8years old...Oh there are so many things
that are real but people can't understand. So sadly for
us and for them...People like cruise murder Mike Ljungberg,
a wrestler from Sweden, winner of gold medal in the Olympic Games of Sydney 2000 because he was embarrassed to take
anti-depressant medication and he commit suicide inside "Mölndals sjukhus"(hospital of Mölndal). And so many other destroyed lifes...That stigma MATTERS SO MUCH when a person has the symptoms.Depressive illness is a REAL amplifier of the stigmatization
and this leads to suicide or to a completely miserable life. When you have depression it's impossible to describe it and to express your pain. Its the most stuffy thing in the
universe.Your face, your eyes, your mouth are just unable to express the amound of huge pain and the emptiness.Your body makes moves, your mind makes thoughts, but the pain doesn't go away. Its Very difficult to believe that this happens but its a tremendous reality about depression.ITS
NOT A FEELING.Is the most EMPTY UNSPEAKABLY PAIN IN
THE WHOLE UNIVERSE.This STUFFINESS is INFINITY,bottomless painful.Bottomless,bottomless,bottomless,bottomless,bottomless...
..................................suicide the only possible bottom without proper treatment.I'm a Greek-Swedish and i apologize if my english are not so good.
The wrestler Mikael Ljungberg who tooks gold medal in the Olympic Games of Sydney 2000,suffered from chronic depression and he
commit suicide in the psychiatric hospital of Mölndal in November
of 2004,because was ashamed of the reaction of the public,if had taken antidepressant medication. And you ,Tom Cruise, have fast internet and you can go to suicide of Mikael Ljungberg
to see your crime.
