Dallas is the Winner in the 5G Race

There has been a lot of 5G news out of MWC this week and when you study some of it, you see that there are certain cities which are way ahead of others in the 5G race. Perhaps surprisingly, Dallas seems to be the winner so far, followed by Atlanta.

There are a few things to note. T-Mobile has said it will roll out 5G in 30 cities and Verizon has announced the most cities so far. Another interesting point is Verizon has really decided to roll out in what seem like surprising locations which many of us have never heard of.

At ITEXPO, Cloudonix Adds Contextual Calling to Their Cost-Effective CPaaS Solution

At ITEXPO in Fort Lauderdale, I spoke with Eric Klein COO and Nir Simionovich Cloudonix.io to follow up on our conversation from last year about their communications software solution. The solution allows a carrier to provide CPaaS on a white-label basis but the solution has applications in infinite vertical markets. 



Perhaps the most important new feature the platform has now is contextual communications allowing apps to have integrated communications. This is important because virtually every contact center interaction today lacks any context i.e.





Trump Won't Build a 5G Network. He'll do This

Information recently leaked about a plan for a national 5G network run by the U.S. government and perhaps leased out to carriers. In another article, it was stated that the government has backed away from saying they will run the network.

This is not surprising to us. We doubt the government would run the network in any major capacity.

New Yeastar UCaaS; Are 8x8 and RingCentral in Trouble?

Yeastar, a Chinese UC, gateway and phone player just announced its Yeastar Cloud PBX will be unveiled at ITEXPO next month in Florida. “We are excited to be back at ITEXPO East again this year,” said Alan Shen, CEO of Yeastar, “We deem ITEXPO a great platform to launch our brand new offering, Yeastar Cloud PBX, to the world. Having been field-tested in the beta program, this profitable multi-instance hosted business voice solution could be a perfect fit for most of the ITEXPO attendees.”

When we learned the news, the first thing that came to mind was a similar competitive situation last decade.

The Enterprise will Embrace SD-WAN in 2018

SD-WAN is rapidly becoming a cornerstone next-gen IT service embraced by companies of all sizes. Some of the benefits of software-defined wide area networks are cloud security, easier hybrid cloud deployment and applications performance management.

What many companies will tell you off-the-record is they also see SD-WAN as an opportunity to reduce their dependence on legacy networking vendors – although even the traditional networking companies have made strategic acquisitions in the space.

Perhaps the biggest reason companies need SD-WAN today is their dependence on cloud instead of their corporate data centers means they need to rethink how they deploy and optimize their wide area networks.
