Venezuelan Oil Company finds Zultys

Petróleos de
Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA) is the Venezuelan
state-owned petroleum company. They were planning
to operate a new site nearby one of their main
offices in Pariaguan, and they needed a way to
provide a phone system for the new site as well as
interconnect communications between the new site
and the main site in Pariaguan. They decided that
using VoIP technology between the sites was the
most cost effective way to achieve this. They
evaluated solutions from both Siemens and Zultys,
and selected Zultys because it was the easier to
deploy and maintain as well as the more cost
effective.

Applications
These two applications
are both associated with petrochemical companies.
They both use VoIP to communicate between sites.
Where you have access to a data network between
sites the addition of voice over that network can
be a very simple matter. The data network can be
with radio, satellite, private network, or over
the Internet. When you use the Internet, create a
VPN so the communications is secure. You can use
the MX30 or MX250 systems to create that VPN or
use external hardware.
Zultys has a patented
method for ensuring the best possible speech
quality for calls made over a wide area network.
In each of these particular applications, the
users are happy with the speech quality despite
the unusual communications methods between
sites.
In each case, the
encryption that is built into the phones provides
security for the users. The speech is secure from
one end to the other. Zultys phones detect man in
the middle attacks in which an intruder could
break the link and establish two separate
encryption paths, one to each phone.
