CallVantage: Only 53,000 Customers

AT&T has been reluctant to share their customer numbers and I assumed that was because they were low. It turns out that 53k is the number of users they have while Vonage is going to break 1,000,000 by the summer. My perception is that Vonage is outspending AT&T 10 to 1 on advertising if not more. I actually purchased two science magazines to read on the plane on my most recent trip and both had Vonage ads in them. One was on the back cover. Vonage is advertising everywhere it seems. It is tough for anyone else to get mind share.

Amazingly I would have never thought AT&T would be outspent in marketing but they are. Much thanks to Om Malik for bringing this story to my attention.
