The tax law, House bill 49 was targeted at providers of satellite and microwave technologies; however, some lawmakers believe the rules are also applicable to VoIP providers carrying voice traffic using data networks. These providers would service end-users of providers such as Vonage or CallVantage which carry VoIP-based call traffic routed over the public Internet.
