Paget Alves, Sprint CSO keynotes ITEXPO in Miami

Dear readers – thanks for registering for ITEXPO – our conference registration numbers show there is solid attendance already and the scope of attendees as always will be international with people coming from as far away as China. Julius Genachowski Makes Brilliant Move at FCC in Hiring Henning Schulzrinne as CTO

Earlier this month, FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski announced the appointment of Henning Schulzrinne as Chief Technology Officer – a major move forward for the FCC and the US communications regulatory environment. This move was made in-part because the FCC has had to keep up with fairly rapid changes in the communications and networking worlds. Telephony was once a circuit-switched service provided by a handful of large telecommunications companies and a number of regional players.

It was relatively easy to understand and regulate.

Avaya's Top Communication Trends in 2012

Death of PSTN Panel @ITEXPO (pic)

Here at ITEXPO West 2011 in Austin I am watching a panel discussing the death of the public switched telephone network during a special keynote panel. Items being discussed are who will pay for the upgrades to E911, will the move save power, how do we deal with the fact that existing equipment is breaking down with no available replacement parts and finally, what will come next?
