RCN Joins Voice Peering Fabric

The VPF has done a great job in allowing VoIP peering to take place with the added flexibility of accessing a centralized ENUM registry allowing calls to travel from VoIP provider to provider — or even enterprise, without the need to hop off to the PSTN. The Registry maps telephone numbers to Internet addresses using a look-up architecture similar to the Internet’s Domain Name System. The total database size is now 5 million strong which I find pretty amazing. VoIP peering is gaining traction.
