VoIP Linked Repeater System
"Extending Radio Coverage Through a Network"

Radio coverage over a large area can be provided by establishing a series of repeater sites liked together. The local or wide area network can be used to link the repeater sites together. Using existing network infrastructure eliminates the need for leased lines, microwave, or radio links and also allows for repeaters to be located in areas where line of sight paths between repeater sites may be restrictive. A network extension unit is connected at both repeater sites allowing PTT / COR and audio signals to be sent across the LAN / WAN to and from the remotely located repeaters.

I am an Amateur Radio operator and use VOIP to talk to other "Hams" all over the world. I used it extensively during the SE Asian Tsunami in Dec/Jan 2005/2006 communicating with other hams delivering Emergency Traffic in mor than 20 countries - I know it works for us - Hams!!! I would like to see if there is another VOIP interface out there besides the West Mountain "Rigblaster" that allows other hams to connect their computers to a Amateur Radio and use it as a Link to the Internet. The Rigblaster Plus runs about $150 - but I have seen a design about a year ago made in India for about $10-20. Do you know of such a device in a mor affordable package? - JAY - Las Vegas
