If Vonage has been having great luck in terms of mindshare and being top of mind as a pure-play VoIP provider, it has been equally unlucky in the patent wars as evidenced by the recent loss in the US Court of Appeals regarding the rehearing of a Verizon patent infringement case.
Had Vonage won it could have saved paying Verizon $40 million or more specifically $80 million instead of $120 million.
