WiMAXcon Learning Center Open for Business

WiMAX technology is progressing amazingly quickly and it seems like this technology will help bring broadband communications consisting of voice, video and data to the masses. I am personally thrilled to announce that our WiMAX Learning center is doing incredibly well, having some of the industry's key players participating in it.

As a reminder, this will be a place where attendees can come to learn about technology in a 100% objective environment. No sales pitches. You will come away from this conference learning about the technology and how you can apply it in your application whether it be rural, urban, an education vertical, disaster recovery, etc.

Here are the companies we are thrilled to host next week at the event:

My Problem is stated below:

VoIP Project In Nigeria

Name of Company: Ossom Akpata Limited

Address: 184 Deeper Life Road, Garki Area 11, Abuja, Nigeria

Phone: +234 9 290 1206

Fax: +234 9 222 0882

Email: obyonelson@mesona.com.

Current Activities: Post Harvest Technology Service Provider.

Reason(s) for Business Plan: Experiences from current activities reveals the high level of underserved telephony communities in Nigeria. Although there have been increase in the teledensity in recent times by the introduction of GSM technology, a vast majority of the population is still outside the market reach of this expensive telephony. We see the VoIP technology as an opportunity to leverage our activities and provide an affordable telephony to Nigerians. Moreover, data packet carried by IP is the affordable communication technology of the future.

Mission Statement: To Provide Low Cost Telephony and Internet Access to All Nigerians, Anywhere in the Country.

Strategy: To put in place an infrastructure of nationwide remote region (rural) BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) network based on satellite and WiMax technology to carry SIP based VoIP. The WiMax should be both fixed wireless (portable) and nomadic mobile, with zero-installed customer premises equipment (CPE). Recommended technologies are those from Navini Networks, Alvarion and Quintum; also the Acme Packets and Meta Switch SIP, should be looked into.

Goal: A three-phase approach that will culminate in the coverage of all the underserved and last mile locations within Nigeria in two to three years and the creation of a streamlined, integrated and converged network based on IP technology.

Phase I To cover large cities such as Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Kano, Kaduna, Warri, Benin, Onitsha.

Phase II To cover all the state capitals.

Phase III To cover the rest of the country.
