UConn students: rejoice!

University of Connecticut students will have a pleasant surprise waiting for them this fall as they converge on the campus located in Storrs: better cell phone reception!�

Indeed, Verizon Wireless announced today that it recently installed a new cell site to increase coverage on the UConn campus along Route 195 and

North Eagleville Road
.

�

Any type of improved reception would be much appreciated, considering that a colleague of mine here at TMC, who is a UConn alum, described the on-campus service as "nonexistent."

�

"College students are increasingly relying on their wireless phones to keep in touch with friends and family back home," said Bob Scott, Verizon New England Regional President, in a prepared statement.� "Verizon Wireless has upgraded the network around UConn so students can share the college experience with everyone back home."

�

Something not mentioned in the press release, however, is that a major portion of the "college experience" for UConn students is to call home and describe in excruciating detail how the Huskies suffered yet another loss at the hands of the Syracuse University Orangemen.
