Jabra SPEAK 410 Review

April 21, 2011

A couple months ago, Jabra sent me a Jabra SPEAK 410 to review. It got lost in the shuffle of other things I was reviewing. The Jabra SPEAK 410 is a pretty cool USB-based speakerphone device that directly integrates with Skype, Microsoft Lync/OCS, Avaya, Cisco, and IBM Sametime, enabling you to simply press the green handset icon on the device to answer a call or press the red handset icon to hang up the call. This is especially useful if you want to deploy this in a conference room setting.

April 20, 2011

Want to see water drops captured at 1080p with 2,564fps speed played back in slow motion? How bout shattering glass and lightbulbs in slow-mo? Or watching the wave impact travel up a Blackberry as it hits? Tom Guilmette took a Vision Research Phantom Flex camera recently and put together a video of mind blowing slow-motion footage.

Say goodbye to your pokey 3G MiFi. Verizon Wireless and Novatel Wireless today announced that the MiFi 4510L 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot that runs on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network is available online today. The 4G LTE MiFi 4510L is available online at www.verizonwireless.com and will be in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores on April 21 for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement on a 4G Mobile Broadband plan. 4G LTE Mobile Broadband plans begin at $50 monthly access for 5GB.

The MiFi 4510L lets you share the connection with up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices simultaneously. I was hoping they'd increase the number of device to ten by now.

netTalk is serious about challenging magicJack. Today they announced that netTALK has raised $2.5 million to help drive its push into bricks n' mortar retail and other marketing efforts. They obtained additional funding up to $2,500,000 in borrowings pursuant to a promissory note agreement. I'm told major retail distribution deals will be announced in the coming days and weeks.

Western Digital WD Elements 2 TB External Hard Drive

December 6, 2010

I was looking to buy a new cheap 2 TB (terabyte) external hard drive on Black Friday to try and get the best deal. Target had a special on the Western Digital WD Elements 2 TB USB 2.0 Desktop external hard drive (model - WDBAAU0020HBK-NESN) for just $69.00! A sweet deal for 2TB! However, when I went to pick one up they were gone and a Target employee told me they sold out in less than 15 minutes.

Sony Ericsson VH700 headset Review

October 26, 2010

The Sony Ericsson VH700 Bluetooth headset is an interesting Bluetooth headset, if only for the fact that it's not wireless. How can it be Bluetooth which is a wireless specification and yet not be wireless? Perhaps this picture of the VH700 will explain it best:

As you can see, the Sony Ericsson headset sports a small rectangular base unit controller with all of the user controls (power, volume up/down, charging connector) and it holds the battery, as well as a clip for attaching it to your clothing. Connected to the base unit controller is a wired ear-piece with a traditional earbud on the end.

October 22, 2010

You hover over the baggage claim area and claim a good spot close to the carousel door. You wait for your luggage to arrive - popping out through the conveyor belt doors - as your stress hormones and heart rate skyrocket with each passing moment you don't see your bag. Did my luggage make it? Is it still in good shape?
