Well I ordered a used Garmin 350 on eBay since I won the auction yesterday. It was the only used Garmin Nuvi for sale in Florida. As you know, my Garmin Nuvi was stolen in Disney World, which is also in Florida. I figured, what the heck, may as well and try and see if I can buy my own unit back by searching eBay for all Florida Nuvi's being sold.

There's a chance, right? The unit being sold on eBay stated it doesn't come with the suction cup - only the charger and Nuvi unit itself. That's exactly how the unit was left in the vehicle - with no suction cup holder. For the record, the serial number on the unit is 107064814 in case anyone out there happens to buy this stolen property. How funny would it be if I won my own unit back?

It's scheduled for delivery tomorrow according to the tracking number.

I plan on videotaping the unboxing. If it is indeed my own GPS unit, I'll post the video.

I won't be able to video the opening until I get home tomorrow night ~7pm. So might not see a post until Thursday.

Cant the garmin corporation track a specific device? I dont think this would cost much, they could tell you were your unit was! I had my garmin stolen, it was really devastating since it cost me 400.00 and Im a single college student. I really have a horrible sense of direction, I dont have any sense of east,west nort or south! IT HAS to found, ITS A GPS!!! IT HAS TO BE TRACKED DOWN! ITS NOT LIKE A CD PLAYER! IT HAS A SATELLITE TRACKING ITS ASS! Am i wrong?????? Does it not work that way? I wish someone would help me find it.

Doesn't work that way. Most GPS units are 1-way receivers. They receive the GPS signals and then use the internal GPS maps to display your position. The satellites never know your position but YOU know the position of each satellite - or at least your stolen GPS does. Since each satellite has a predetermined position at any point in time, your GPS can figure out its location based on the triangulation (3 minimum) of the satellites your GPS unit finds.

p.s. There are 2-way GPS tracking units, but they use cellular or other methods for transmitting location.

Hi, I had my unit stolen last month. Did you report the loss to Garmin? They track stolen units and are known to return them if they find them.

I am fairly new to New England and use or USED my Garmin almost daily!! It was stolen! I had a c550 010-N0522-00 according to the box. I keep searching craigslist and Ebay but nothing yet. I would be happy to pay for it back, very discounted of course!!

The manual lists an antitheft device but umm who stops to check that once they have broke into your truck/car? They need to have a tracking device in them. We pay good money for them! My car insurance wont cover it but my home owners will. Most people don't have home owners/renters insurance.

DID THE FLORIDA GUY EVER SAY IF THE EBAY GPS WAS INDEED HIS OLD ONE?

Yea. I'm too gonnna look up ebay for my stolen Garmin 250W GPS that was stolen today. Like I don't mind they steal my GPS since afterall, it only worth around $200. But they frickin smashed my driver seat window that piss me off. There's too many scumbag in the world.

My "mothers day/birthday" GPS was stolen today! Not happy! Probably some punks that aren't in school right now for the summer and have nothing better to do than steal!!! Several cars in our neighborhood were hit last night. If anyone finds mine it's SN# 12P388748. I am so bummed.... I should have told my husband I wanted to get clothes or a massage instead. This sux!!! It was my gift for having a new baby / my birthday. Some punk doesn't care about the value of that......I hope they catch his ass and really burn him where it counts! Probably with his parents that have no clue what this kid does at night. So sad! I'm also going to check myspace.com........ kids are always talking smack and spilling the beans on that website. My Garmin Nuvi 310 was stolen on September 10th, 2008 in Landsdale, Perth Western Australia. I have reported it to the Police. I have been looking for my GPS on the internet but nothing yet. The S/N is 31133469. If anyone comes across it, please let me know! I want to get this person back.

If you've had your Nuvi stolen, please send us an email sharcnet-usa at-sharc-dot-net and I'll be happy to post your information on our website.

Should someone report to us that they have your unit, we'll contact you.

Please also note that when we repair a unit, we write the owner's name and telephone number on the internal printed circuit board and on the back of the LCD display.

If we should happen to run across your unit while doing a repair, we'll contact you.

We have some helpful hints that may help you get your unit back if stolen.

Had my Garmin 255 NUVI stolen today. They smashed the car window and took the unit and the car charger. Left the suction cup on the winshield though. Also broke the car beside mine too. Now I am frantically searching for ways to track it. Found the site www.gadgetTrak.com but that has limitations. I am located in Kingston, Jamaica where it happened. It has all my addresses and HOME programmed into it too. Any ideas on how to retrieve it or disable it would be welcome.
