Ever lose your keys and can't unlock your front door? Ever resort to crawling through an unlocked window to get into your locked house and hope the neighbors don't call the police? Well, I have and it's not fun breaking into your own house.Kwikset comes to the rescue with a fingerprint reader lock for doors. Kwikset, one of America’s leading door lock companies, has developered this new keyless lock that scans your fingerprint and unlocks the door. Unlike keys, you never lose your fingers, right? Unless of course Jack Bauer from 24 cuts them off to acquire some crucial information he needs to kill those pesky terrorists.
The Kwikset biometric lock can be programmed with up to 50 different fingerprints, and has different security levels and "lock out" features. It is powered by four AA batteries, which will last for over one year under normal use. The lock signals ahead of time when batteries need to be replaced. It includes your traditional keyhole -- handy for when you have gloves on or the batteries die.
Here's the inside unit where you program your fingerprints:

I own this lock, it is great. I tried to order from FSLOCKS and they never pick up their phone, return my calls or emails, eventually, I purchased through another company, then I found this and I know why: http://fslocks-sucks.blogspot.com
wow, good thing they didn't pick up their phone.
anyways I got the lock and it is really awesome, I just order 3 more and recommend them to all my friends! I found them here: http://keylesslocks.com - that website was in development, but still I called, they returned my calls and the customer service was great and they were very helpful.
I don't care where you buy them from, but don't give FSLOCKS your money. They are scam artists and have very bad business ethics.
some cheap fingerprint locks could be found in techsvg.com
we also sell this lock and you can even call Seqium and I bet they would recommend us without hesitation. We are a real lock company and I am a real locksmith.
Sorry, I tried this lock and it didn't work that well--sometimes I had to try several times to have it open. Put my fingerprint in several times (found this a nuisance, kept having to scan myself in as admin to put in more versions of my fingerprint) -- this unit just isn't ready for prime time IMO. Sent mine back.
I bought my lock a couple months ago. I orignally had a problem with it reading my fingerprint. I called the company I purchased it from, GoKeyless.com, they explained to me the problem was the ribbon was probably not put in all the way on install. Once I fixed this problem the lock has worked fine. Love the product and loved the service from GoKeyless.com Would recommend the lock to anybody.

I am hoping to get the kwikset biometric deadbolt, but have heard mixed reviews, I'm glad to hear the comment about the ribbon, but I was hoping to find cheaper prices on-line; home depot sells them for $199, and there's always a home depot right around the corner. I hope to se more comments about any glitches with this product.
I sell this lock and have one installed on my home. The most common problem with the lock is improper installation. As others have said the ribbon cable must be installed correctly. It may also take a little time to train yourself to correctly swipe your finger. The lock is sensitive to the angle of the finger and the speed of the swipe. My suggestion is to assemble the lock prior to installing it in the door and practice operating the lock while you watch your fingerprint displayed on the inside unit. This will give you a better feel for what the lock "sees" and the proper way to consistently swipe your finger. It's a great product if used and installed correctly. If you purchase the lock from me you should definitely call if you have installation or use questions if you're having trouble.
I called 3 other companies before I finally called a company that answered, GoKeyless. I had no clue what I was looking for but GoKeyless helped me. They directed me to the right lock. They sold me just a simple mechanical lock which was under a hundred dollars. I liked how GoKeyless direct me to the right lock, not the cheapest. The lock was going on a door exposed to weather on both sides and I am sure it would have fried the fingerprint lock.
Tiffany,
I found the same thing. Only company that would answer their phone was GoKeyless. Got the lock in 2 days. Works good. Only had it about 3 weeks. Wife still getting used to it.
