I really didn't know that today's Wall Street Journal would have a story about how the Treo 650 is the only real contender against the Blackberry -- really I didn't!

Im waiting for the phone that I can use on my internal VoIP network and when Im out of 802.11 range kick into my cell providers network. I thought the WSJ article was good.
I sure someone somewhere is working on that phone ...
I'm an ex-Treo 650 user. I loved the phone when I had it. I still don't understand what's so special about Blackberry? I think they're ugly, and if you have the web on treo or smartphone, why would you need a Blackberry?
I own a Audiovox SMT5600 Smartphone now, and am getting the Cingular 8125. With PocketPC, you can run Skype on it. Plus it doubles as a media player to listen to mp3s and watch videos. I still don't understand people who carry multiple devices. I rather carry one that does it all. The only weakness it the camera. I just wished the smartphones would have better cameras, 2 or 3MP with good picture quality. Besides that, the HTC Wizard (Cingular 8125, T-Mobile MDA, etc.) does phone, outlook sync, PDA, pocket word, IE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, WMP 10, customizable Home screen, lots of apps, mp3 ringer, camera, the list goes on. I think you guys are talking about the ASNAP technology which allows you to seamlessly roam from cellular to WLAN and vice versa.
ASNAP is patented by Calypso Wireless: http://www.calypsowireless.com/
"With Calypso's ASNAP(tm) patented technology, seamless Fixed-Mobile Convergence mobile subscribers will be able to connect to the mobile or Wi-Fi network and save money on local or long distance calls, interconnecting with Skype for its long distance calls. The demonstration interconnecting on Vodafone was successfully completed. We plan to demonstrate the Calypso C1250i Wi-Fi-GSM Dual Mode VoIP Smart cellular phone and other dual mode phones currently being released on the market on other GSM mobile networks in the future," said Alfredo Sarrazin, Vice President of Sales of Calypso Wireless Inc.
