Lots of great stuff online about Google's boo-boo about news of its planned GDrive online storage service that will offer Web users a mirror image of the data stored on their hard drives showing up on the Google site.

There is so much hype about Gdrive even before it is released. Let me tell you one thing.
I trust services like IBackup to backup and restore my personal files, including Quicken files.
With IBackup for Windows I can schedule backups with ease and forget about it. To map my IBackup online storage account as a local drive on my PC I use IDrive. I can drag-and-drop and edit my files with IDrive.
To store and play my video and audio files, I use IDrive Multimedia , another variation of Network Drive technology. Another browser-based application Webmanager
lets me create folders, move, delete and share files or folders with others.
All data transfer with IBackup is secure and is encrypted with 128-bit SSL. Why should I leave IBackup then?
There were a lot of hype and excite about Google. True, Google is hugely powerful today. It seems it's on the way to dominate the world! However, there is no free lunch in this world. Google doesn't just want to offer you free storage for good. There are lots of big things that Google didn't do well, e.g. Google failed completely with Google financial, google failed on GTalk, google also failed in its online spreadsheet... heck Google even failed in its Google video, blog to YouTube and MySpace, etc... The list goes on and on. So after more than half a year seeing nothing coming out from Google yet, I know this is not about whether Google can do it or not, but they have too many other territories to conquer. So I have used DriveHQ.com to host my data and backup service. After all, their service is complelely amazing. Anything Google promised is already there. So why the wait for another Google Briefcase?
Is Google the new "Microsoft" and Microsoft now the old "IBM?" It sure seems that is the way things are headed.
Either way, rather than support the giants, check out http://www.myotherdrive.com for your online storage and content sharing needs.
This site gives you 5GB of free online storage, and permits you to share your content with others at the folder level.
In addition to acting as an online storage system, (yes you can upload/download in bulk unlike many other online storage systems), there are also built-in content viewers and soon to come content editors. That allows you to bypass the whole upload/download operation altogether.
Another feature soon to come - content tagging and content search. This feature, combined with our rich content viewers, will position MyOtherDrive as a potentiall superset of 'fad' websites like YouTube.

Google has just snapped DoubleClick for a whopping 3 billion... Yet after all the hype and much waiting and anticipation, GDrive is still nowhere to be found or mentioned. I guess Google is really becoming another Microsoft and IBM. Buying technology is a lot easier than developing in-house when Google is so rich. Anyway, I am using DriveHQ FileManager and online backup service now. (http://www.drivehq.com). Isn't it exactly what Gdrive is supposed to do?
I have been an enthusiastic DriveHQ user for almost 2 years. Their service is great!
All GDrive features are long available and better on DriveHQ.com. Visit www.drivehq.com and watch the demo.
# Backup. DriveHQ Online Backup works great. It has a lot of high-end features, much better than GDrive, including versioning, scheduled backup, encrypted storage, compressed upload, incremental backup and resuming, etc.
