iPod battery life improved via high capacity replacement

As an iPod lover, I just had to share this announcement about improved battery-life:

OWC AND NEWERTECH ANNOUNCE ULTRA HIGH-CAPACITY REPLACEMENT BATTERY FOR FIRST- AND SECOND-GENERATION IPOD MODELS

2100mAh replacement battery has highest capacity of any iPod battery on the market, with 70 percent more capacity than Apple stock battery

WOODSTOCK, Ill. - September 14, 2004 - Newer Technology, Inc. (NewerTech() and Other World Computing (OWC) today introduced an ultra high-capacity 2100mAh Apple iPod replacement Lithium-Polymer (Li-Polymer) replacement battery for all first- and second-generation iPod models.

The NewerTech battery is the highest capacity iPod battery on the market and provides 70 percent more capacity than standard Apple stock batteries. It is available immediately for $39.95.

"The sad truth about first- and second-generation iPods is that in many cases their batteries start to fade after about 18 months, and there's nothing worse for an iPod-user than to slowly become unable to access their digital music on-the-go," said Larry O'Connor, president of OWC. "This new ultra high-capacity battery not only replaces the battery that died, but gives the iPod more life than it's ever had before with 70 percent more capacity than the original battery."

The 2100mAh iPod replacement battery uses the same high-quality Li-Polymer technology used by Apple Computer (Nasdaq: AAPL) to make the original iPod batteries. The NewerTech battery also comes with two non-scratching installation tools and a detailed instruction manual to guide users smoothly through the installation process.

"We're huge fans of the iPod here, and we want to make sure that installing a new battery is perfectly safe for the iPod," O'Connor said. "This is why we include tools that allow users to easily open their iPods without scratching or damaging them. We've seen other companies provide inferior tools or even no tool at all and recommending the use a metal screwdriver that is sure to scratch up the iPod. We provide the right non-scratching tools and instruction so customers can open their iPods quickly and correctly for the trouble-free installation of their NewerTech iPod battery."

In addition, OWC and NewerTech announced a special promotion throughout the month of September where customers can get $10 off when they purchase the 2100mAh iPod replacement battery and the NewerTech RoadTrip! FM transmitter for the iPod together. To take advantage of the offer, simply enter the coupon code "HIGHROAD" during the online checkout procedure. The $19.95 RoadTrip! enables iPod-users to listen to their digital music collections via their car stereos and is currently garnering rave reviews from trade journalists and satisfied customers across the country.

A full line of high-capacity batteries from NewerTech for many Apple iPod and Apple PowerBook models is available through OWC. For more information or to order, visit www.macsales.com/ipodbattery or e-mail sales@macsales.com. In addition, the NewerTech RoadTrip! is available at www.macsales.com/roadtrip.
