Playing Favorites: Wii vs. PS3 vs. Xbox 360

Well, got my new PS3 and hooked it up and sat it next to my 360. Now both consoles are hooked to my 67" 1080p HDTV , NICE RIGHT ??? WRONG !!

Go to turn it on, bam , just beeping at me and flashing the led's at me a few times. WTF ???

I finally get it on (after trying for 10 minutes with a sick feeling in my stomach) and realize the online is not set up yet for it. No big deal, I will play RfoM and MotorStorm. RfoM is very nice, but not as big of a hype game it was made out to be. Motorstorm has some SERIOUS FR issues.

So finally, when I can get online I go throught the tedious task to do so only to find out I need a DIFFERENT friends list for each game and one for my main friends list.

I cannot chat with a friend privatly and play a game at the same time.

So, long story short ~~ my PS3 will went in the local Classified ads and is now gone.

I will keep my 360 with a FAR BETTER online and much better games and on-par and from what I seen with the two games I had ... better graphics too.

These are mostly my opinions.

PS3
Pros
1 - Runs Linux.
2 - Blu-ray.
3 - Next gen graphics.
4 - Games look brighter than other consuls.
5 - Less noise than Xbox 360
6 - PS3 has more than enough features to justify its price.
Cons
1 - Slight lag in "frames per second" with some of the current first gen games.

Xbox 360
Pros
1 - Best graphics for price with current gen games.
2 - Almost all games run smooth.
Cons
1 - Most games are dark "First Person Shooter" and I feel like throwing up when I play those.
2 - Graphics are generally too dark for me.
3 - Can't run any computer Operating System.
4 - HD-DVD add-on does not play games, it only plays movies.

Wii
We all know what how Wii is, its innovative, but has poor processing power.

i just got my ps3 two days ago and, i have to say ive played on a friends xbox360 and ps3 hands down winner, it just came out so the games arent the best yet but, next fall when the two main systems xbox360 and ps3 go at it i belive ps3 will come out on top cause of its 8 proccessors able do more things all at one time, the blu-ray, and the fact that it took the best outta the other two systems. like it took motion sencing from wii, and next-gen graphics from xbox 360 and imo improved on them, so imo ps3 will with stand the test of time.

i have bought a 60 gig ps3 and i have to say i was impressed by the graphics. i bought a hdmi wire and hooked it up to my 71" hdtv. with suround sound. It looked amazing. the 6 axis controller adds fun to gaming. This doesnt mean 360 sucks, i use to have that to and iit had good graphics but the controller was way heavier that ps3 controller. ( it looks bad) but the good thing a bout it is in a affordable price range. THe wii however is the cheapest system out and many will buy it because of the price. THe wii has caused alot of damage and the price to pay for the damage will build on and will cost alot. ( maybe more than ps3) ex: sweating during gameplay romote flys out and breaks and breaks the plasma tv

i have both of the xbox consles the original and 360.the first xbox had better graphics the ps2 and it run smoother.its the same with the 360 and ps3. the 360 has better graphic after i looked at gamespot comparism and the loading is ffaster on the 360 for example like fight round 3 and that game has better crowd on 360. the blue-ray deosn't really make the ps3 any better, i mean so what it has a sensore motion.

My comment is Xbox360 rocks. Better graphics, windows, lower price, better online play and it has dual layer which is good for now becouse blu-ray time is not for now, becouse its recorder costs too much and cracking the device will take a long time. Anyone who has common sense will choose Xbox360 which is almost 1/2 cheaper than a PS3, but SONY will notice that and the price will go down HARD. Anyway i have 8800GTX and all that three consoles can step against and loose hahhahaha.

Mario galaxy... very fun (if your in kindergarden). Zelda... ah good old zelda... out to use the exact same weapons to beat some random boss. rayman... hes still around? I could go on and on.

Nintendo DID (past tense) have the best games... back in the 80's. Well, all the games looked the same back then. The cube had the gayest games to date. Mario party 2-6, Mario sunshine, Chibi Robo (a game where you do friggin chores for "Happy Points" (lol so gay)!), all the mario sports, the pokemon channel.

Let me start counting good games. The ones already out: Farcry, PGR3, NFS Most Wanted, COD 3, Battlefild 2, FEAR, Oblivion, perfect dark zero, dead or alive 4, Hitman Blood Money, chrome hounds, prey, Over g fighters, LOTR Battle for middle earth 2. Games comming out COD 3, Gears of war, Halo 3, Enchanted arms, time shift, 99 nights, Lost planet, Splinter cell double agent. You dont know anything about xbox do you?

The upcomming wii games Rayman raving rabbits, zelda, MP3 (only game I think has some potential), and all those little sequals they always make. Redsteel, one of nintendos games that they try to make look mature but end up being really dumb. Along with all those multi platform games that everybody has. Ho did I mention that the wii has no HD? I mean come on, The latest technology is here and nintendo ignores it. I forgot. Nintendo is looking for price effectiveness, not quality. IGN says that wii games will be at 50 bucks and below (That means that theyll be at 50 bucks). Thats wihout HD!!! Nintendo cant change with the times. Were not in the 80's anymore and we dont like kiddie games like pokemon anymore. They just cant addapt, so they throw in something that is totally different from the norm and thats how they sell (GC mini disks... sound familiar).

I like the ps3 allot more then the x box 360 because you can already see how much more potential it has compared to the other consols with the 54 GB of disc space and the cell and rsx processor the developers can utilize to create unbelievable games. Compared to x box 360 which has only 8 GB and an ATI graphics chip with no sixaxis and online that you have to pay for to get the same experience playstation 3 fans are getting for *FREE*. Im not going to criticize the Wii system on performance because thats not the approach plan they were going to use. The Wii system is the only real competitor with the ps3 system that i can see in a year because its totally inovative with the motion sensor controlls and how it uses them in its games.

High definition DVDs
====================

There is a marketing fight going on for the future of DVD - high
definition DVDs. These DVD encode the data at 1080p on the media and
transmit up to 6X the number of pixels that standard DVDs do. The
sound capabilities are also significantly enhanced.

A standard DVD stores 4.7 GB on one layer and 8.4 GB on two layers. Most
commerical DVD movies are dual sided. HDDVD, as announced, is capable of
storing 15 GB (one layer), 30 GB (two layers) or 45 GB (three layers).
Blu-Ray stores 25 GB (one layer) and 50 GB (two layers) with up to 8 layers
(200 GB) possible in the future.

At CES 2007 (January) Toshiba announced that HDDVD would now support 50 GB
capacities. Capacity parity with Blu-Ray remove the percieved major
advantage of Blu-Ray over HDDVD since most media will have only a few
layers. The 50 GB capacity for HDDVD will be achieved by increasing the
capacity per layer from 15 GB to 17+ GB and using 3 layers.

The per layer cost for Blu-Ray and HDDVD are closely held secrets but
HDDVD could have an advantage is the per layer costs are as low as have
been claimed. A high definition DVD producer could select the number of
layers appropriately possibily saving money when the compessed video
size is larger than 25 GB.

Despite all of the impressive capacity data movies are larger still. So
much so that the data must be compressed to make it fit on a DVD.
Standard DVDs are encoded via the MPEG-2 algorithm. High definition DVDs
may be encoded via the MPEG-2, VC-1 and H.264 algorithms. Each algorithm
(codec) has trade-offs. The MPEG-2 codec, which is the oldest, generally
requires more space to provide a quality image.

Why is this important? An HDDVD of a movie encoded with the same codec
as a Blu-Ray DVD with the same set of parameters will be visually
identical. When extra capacity is available there is an advantage -
superior images - since movies may be less compressed and suffer from
fewer side effects. A 50 GB Blu-Ray disk would be expected to have
superior picture (and sound) qualities over a 30 GB HDDVD using the same
codec.

At the time of this writing there is little data to demonstrate that
Blu-Ray offers any visual superiority over HDDVD even when making use
of the its dual layer capability 50 GB vs. 30 GB). Direct visual
comparison is possible because several movies have been released on
dual layer HDDVD and Blu-Ray format media.

For those interested in codecs, the VC-1 codec is looking like a real
winner. This codec is derived from a Microsoft codec and produces
excellent images.

Blu-Ray players cost as much as double that of HDDVD players. This,
coupled with the first Blu-Ray player producing flawed images, has not
help Blu-Ray sell very well. Additional Blu-Ray players are now shipping
in volume and produce excellent images. However the drastic difference
in price points affects sales - HDDVD has sold significantly better than
Blu-Ray, at least so far.

To date there are ~120 HDDVD and ~120 Blu-Ray disks with a fair number
of them overlapping. There are tens of thousands of DVDs. Neither camp
seens to want to compromise and 2007 is going to be quite a battle. In
the meantime the consumer is sitting on the side lines not wanted to
purchase a loser and, more often than not, not having an HDTV to look
at the images (or care?).

Studio support, rather than technology, may be the deciding factor. Of
the 8 major studios, Sony, Disney, Fox and Lionsgate are Blu-Ray only.
Universal is HDVD only and the rest are agnostic, offering movies in
both formats. Those DISNEY classics, Harry Potter, Star Wars (FOX),
Alien movies (FOX) and much of the MGM catalog (owned by SONY but not
totally controlled by them) may be the deciding factor.

The Blu-Ray/HDDVD fight is often compared with VHS and Betamax fight of the
'70s. This is not quite the correct analogy for the following reasons:

1) There was a visual quality difference between VHS and
Betamax. Betamax was considered superior but not
amazingly so. Blu-Ray has not, as yet, demonstrated
that it is signifcantly better than HDDVD.

2) Sony (Betamax) didn't own several movie studios at the
time. Sony's motivations are quite different than back
then.

3) VHS proved to be cheaper in the long run. The visual
quality of Betamax didn't seem to win over too many buyers.

HDDVD media are nearly identical in price to the existing
DVD media. A DVD production line can be converted to HDDVD
and DVD production for a little as $50K; switching one way
or the other takes ~10 minutes.

Blu-Ray media are considerably more expensive than DVD and
HDDVD media; backers claim that the price is falling
rapidly and will be very close to DVD/HDVD media costs
(although somehwat higher) in the near future. However,
unlike DVD and HDDVD, Blu-Ray production lines must be
dedicated for Blu-Ray production and production lines
cost well over $1M each.

Blu-Ray drives cost more than HDDVD drives as well. The
tighter tolerances require more exotic materials and
manuafacturing techniques. Again, Blu-Ray backers claim
the price is falling and will only be approximately $1
more than HDDVD drives.

How fast each technology reaches acceptance and volume
production can be a critical factor in the fight.

Customers tend to purchase the lower cost items over
higher/better technology items even when there is a
discernable difference.

4) Although this may sound uncomfortable to some, pornography
chose VHS - cheaper - and provide a significant volume
factor. The pornography industry hasn't really weighed in
on high definition although a few are leaning toward Blu-Ray.

They have a new problem - in the higher resolution the
current "stars" don't look so good. One can see their
surgery scars and skin defects much easier

In general high definition filming must take on the
difficulties of movie production (4000x2000) to obtain
good pictures of people. Makeup and filming techniques
must be changed from current TV tecnhiques.

5) Durability may be an issue.

As most of us have discovered, DVD can scratch. The
scratches can even render the DVD unplayable.

HDDVD uses the same technology as DVD and has the same
scratch issues.

Blu-Ray media is manufactured to much finer tolerances
than HDVD and this makes the media much more succeptable
to scratches. So much so that Blu-Ray media was
originally envisioned with a protective outset casing
or shell. Such casings have failed in the marketplace
before so a special ultra hard coatings were developed
to protect Blu-Ray media. Durablis from TDK is the best
known. None of the coatings have any real track record in
the field so the true nature of Blu-Ray durability is
unknown. In practice Blu-Ray media should be considerably
more scratch resistant than HDDVD. Time will tell.

The SONY PS3 is a Blu-Ray movie player. It is unclear if having Blu-Ray
in the PS3 will affect the sale of high definition DVDs. Does the game
player watch enough movies? Will the serious movie fan use game player
hardware as a movie player (over a specialized and more tuned device)?
Time will tell.

All high definition DVD players (Blu-Ray and HDDVD) also function as
upscaling DVD players. The Toshiba HDDVD player is considered quite good
at upscaling, as is the Phillips Blu-Ray player.

At CES 2007 LG electronics announced a high definition DVD player that
handles both Blu-Ray and HDDVD ($1199). The first of the rumored combo
players has coming out! This should remove much of the consumer fears over
choosing a player. None-the-less production facilities are inefficient and
expensive for (early) combo players and compatibility factors are also a
concern. The battle may now proceed for a very long time although along
lines differently than initially expected.

The Wii has only two good things so far, in my opinion, that could make you want to buy it: the wiimote and Zelda: Twilight Princess. Otherwise graphics are poor in comparison with its monstrous oponents.

If you like diversity than you should try Wii, its different and games involve physical movement, which is a new feature in the video-game world. I agree, Gamecube was gay (not necesarily a bad thing for those who like that) and so were the games, they lacked hardcore which I think Wii doesnt have yet.

I have an xbox 360 and i gotta tell you it's GREAT! the graphics are amazing! The games are great. as a matter of fact i'd like 2 see sony come up with anything half as good as the halo series of the Gears of War series (there's gonna be 3)

Wii better than 360?

Ok i have played 360 (which i own) and Wii. Wii sucks dick. If you dont care about graphics AT ALL and dont care about having a string connecting controllers get in the way as you try to play get a cheap piece of crap (Wii). The 360 has great games just to mention a couple in good xbox live order 1. rainbow six vegas 2. Gears of war 3. Halo 2 (you can play it on 360) 4. F.E.A.R and for sports Madden, march madness, nhl 2k7, nba live 07 and college hoops 2k7 are all great games (EA sports has much better graphics than 2K sports).
If you want games where everybody looks like they have baby oil rubbed on them and the surroundings are made of glass get a 600 dollar PS3. oh and another FUN fact people who bought the PS3 to sell for more on ebay cant even get listing price for it. even the wii can get 400 for it if your lucky. 360's online is just amazing and so are the graphics as PS3's are just the opposite. who gives a shit about 20 years from now when they come out with a good game . Wii vs. Xbox 360

I have left the PS3 out of this console wars article because honestly, I'm just not all that interested about it. The console is way overpriced; all that differentiates it from the Xbox 360 is that it's got a bit better graphics and blue-ray etc etc. not really the stuff that matters. Because is all this enough to make up for the poor games created in comparison to the Xbox 360's?
Anyway, so as you can tell, I think that this war is between the Wii and the Xbox 360. So, what are the good points for the Xbox 360? Well, it has great graphics, amazingly realistic games, and Xbox live, which connects the player around the world. The Wii is a new console; you can play the classical games such as Mario and Zelda, and you can get a bit of a workout from playing the games.
So, which is the better console? Well I personally think the Xbox 360 is as I have one myself and have played on the great games like lost planet, gears of war, and I await the arrival of the legendary Halo 3. It seems to me that the Wii games are aimed at the younger crowd, and maybe playing with your family, but these games don't really appeal to me. I mean, how long are you a kid for anyway? The Xbox 360 will probably do better because they sell the more realistic, mature games aimed at the teenagers, and adults.
So here are my personal reasons for getting the 360, the games are a hell of a lot better, graphics does infact matter because the people who make great games want good graphics for it to run on, so the 360 beats the wii there. Also because of the great xbox live system and because when I play on it at least I won't look like a prat jumping around in my house with a random control thing in my hand. But one of the big reasons why I hate the Wii is because the prats that buy it actually start bragging about how great it is because its more fun. I don't see how its more fun, how I see it is that a fun game gets your adrenaline up and makes you panic. That's a fun game, I don't see how playing fake tennis with a bit of programming is fun, surely playing real tennis would be better? And what's with the cooking and opening a champagne bottle? If I wanted to cook, I'd cook, at least id have something to eat then, and who wants to pretend to open a champagne bottle and look like a wanker moving their hands up and down, lol.

Well please support my ideas and feel free to argue with me, because I will listen and maybe you'll be able to convince me that the wii isn't so crap as the impression I got from the twats at my school. And hopefully you'll all be seeing a documentary/video I will be making soon. Thanks J

360 vs Wii vs PS3..

Before any of the next gen consoles were released i thought that the PS3 would be the clear winner.

Now they are all actually out ive had to change my mind. I now see it being 360 + Wii vs PS3 + Wii or just Wii. Quite simply the Wii is too much fun to ignore and many people will buy it as a 2nd system. The fact that the Wii has sold 40% of the 360s one year total in only two months would also indicate that its here to stay.

Now my pros and cons for each system, i dont have a HDTV so ive not bothered including a few things related to that.

Wii - Pros
- Emense fun, with the motion control and some great games.
- Backwards compatibility with NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube and even Turbografix.
- Great Wii channels.
- Cheap price.

Wii - Cons
- Poorer graphics than 360 or PS3.
- Wi-Fi but no ethernet connection.

The 360 has had a years head start on its competitors so its already an established system.

360 - Pros
- Good graphics.
- Cheaper than PS3.
- Xbox live.
- A year head start so many software titles available.

360 - Cons
- Limited backwards compatibility.

As for the PS3 it looks good on paper and has nice graphics but it seems to have some issues that will stop it being an essential purchase for at least another year. These mostly centre around the PS3 Blu Ray, the memory setup, the price and development problems.

PS3 - Pros
- Good graphics.
- Offers a lot of multimedia possibilities.
- It is cheap for a Blu Ray player.
- Backwards compatibilty for PS1 and PS2 for NTSC systems.

PS3 - Cons
- Harder to develop for.
- Blu Ray isnt yet the standardised HD format.
- Blu Ray in the PS3 is only 2x speed, which could give slow access times for games.
- Limited software.
- No force feedback on controllers, Sony has cleared up their legal battle with Immersion so force feedback will be there but you will have to buy new controllers.
- Limited backwards compatibility for PAL systems.

I think the PS3s problem is that developers will always make games for whichever system gives them the most profitability. At the moment the PS3 dosent have the user base of the 360 so for quite a while the majority of games will be 360 ports, which in most cases wont look as good as the 360 originals and wont inspire people to trade in their 360 for a PS3. The Blu Ray while offering a huge amount of storage wont be used to make huge games, at least not by 3rd party developers. At the moment most PS3 games are using duplicate code spread across the disks to try to cut down access times.

Honestly no developer is going to spend millions making a game for a system unless they know it will be profitable, at the moment PS3 really isnt. The current sales of the consoles will really dictate what machine the software companies will develop for first, which is roughly: 360 - 10 million units, Wii - 4 million units, PS3 - 1 million units. Sony will need to shift a lot more units and get some killer first party titles, so it will be about a year before the PS3 can really show what it can do.

So my pick at the moment would be Wii first, 360 second and PS3 third.

One last thing, i think im getting old. I no longer see the blood n guts games as adult games, they really seem to be more for teenage boys who think that if a game dosent have said blood n guts then its a babys game. All i look for now is good gameplay and thats why im going to get a Wii as soon as i can find one!

Xbox 360 will soon hawe buyable Xbox 360 Elite with 120GB HDD or you can buy 120GB HDD alone fore som 100 - 200$ HA HA. And Xbox 360 is better in graphics. I saw it myself when my friend wanted to prove me that PS3 is better in graphics but it's not. Games on PS3 are running much slower than needed and are bright (colours are too light) and graphics are not better.

On Xbox 360 graphics are better, smoother, sharper...... than on PS3. Also Xbox 360 games are loading faster than PS3. PS3 will not able to create better graphics than Xbox 360 because of PS3's lags but 360 will hawe jawdropping graphics. Right now they spend little time for making game for 360 and if they will fork on game 1 - 2 years the graphics will be like real life. Now 360 have only two that kind of games (Gears Of War, Fight Night R3) so don't hope for better graphics you sony fanboys.

Well, my vote is split somewhat. I firstly owned a 360, but i had many problems with disk read errors, games freezing during play etc. Despite this i wont say 360 therefore is inferior to the ps3. These things happen. I enjoyed the online play of the 360 more than the ps3 so far. And i like the build quality and the way the 360 controllers feel.

To me the ps3 controller feels a little cheep and too lite for my liking. Another liking of the 360 was the smooth game play. (when the games worked for me)
Now for the ps3. I like the sixaxis control feature... nice touch, and love the look of the ps3 console over the 360. But most of all i love the graphics of the ps3 in high def. As i have the liberty of seeing the two consoles side by side. And i havn't had one disk read error or console freeze with the ps3. For me its a hard choice between the two. but i will go with the ps3. But there's no way ill be parting with my 360!

Basically PS3 is the best in Music and Movies but thats not why we buy a GAME consol and other then the fact that it is a good consol for little kids, I don't understand how the hell Nintendo hasn't been laughed out. By the way, the possessing power in Wii is worse then GameCube. Now Xbox 360 by far can handle the highest graphics, has the best Online play, and thus has the best potential. Just because a consol doesn't have that many good games at the launch doesn't mean a thing they get better and more numerous. Also if you are a hard-core Gamer you have probably bashed the controller on the ground or other and from experience I can tell you that Nintendo usually breaks after 10 or so good hits, Play Station some times first hit, Xbox never, they are incredibly well designed and built. If you donut slam your controllers 1. You should its stress relieving and 2. Theres always a chance you might accidentally step on it. I saw that one person complained that 360 is to loud; when actually playing a games the noise is completely drowned out. Even though 360 doesn't have the motion censor in the controller, it can easily be created.

Right Now I'm upset at the ELITE. MS was half assed in terms of hardware, but great for software.

THe Elite, at least should have HDMI 1.3, 1.2 is going to be obsolete vs 1.3 very soon, as more TV's can use deep color and the other 1.3 features.

Also, THe ELite could have had built in WIFI to sweeten the deal, then the only diff would be the Blue Ray.

The 360 is the best system now but i don't see MS thinking to far into the future.

They had it right with XBOX1, in terms of hardware, you loose money on the system and make it up with games.

Wii is better for a wider age group, probably aged between 10 and 80. Its especially good for familys.

360 is better for teenage boys and younger adults, probably aged between 14 and 25. Its also currently the best for online gaming.

PS3 is is better for those aged 18+, kids with rich parents or people wanting something similar to a PC on their TV.

I think all the consoles have their good points but id most likely get a PS3 or Wii (or both), i was thinking of getting a 360 but generally the 360 crowd seems to be a bit too immature for my liking.

360 graphically is the best console of all but PS3 has more options. PS3 is not able to create better graphics than 360 because 8 processors are working for their own thing and Nvidia RSX is like Nvidia of 6 - 7 series. Only 1 - 2 processors in PS3 are working for graphics but in 360 all 3 work for graphics. Actually all 3 do all in 360 so that is very impressive. Also 360's ATI Xenon graphic card is MUCH MORE POWERFULL than PS3's RSX.

I saw both 360's and PS3's best games like Lair and Mass Effect or Gears Of War or Halo 3 and I say that graphically only HARDCORE PC can be better than 360. Besides, all that rumor about PS3's best graphics is bull shit. Sony are just lieing to get more money. Also in gamespot 360's graphics are sucker than in reality.

I have 360 and I saw PS3's graphics and I got to take my hat off to MS. They did serious work with theyr 360 and they will win. 360 has better filtrate and back buffers and all this graphical and performance stuff. PS3 is better in options like free online or playing music while playing games. I will say this. If you want more options take PS3 but if you are looking for hardcore performance, graphics and all this stuff take 360. If you don't believe my words then check here

Ok, I just got my Wii after 4 months of searching. Based on that, Wii will pwned. You can a get a PS3 easily now. The main reason Wii will win is that PS3 and 360 are both competing for the same audience. Wii has a monopoly over about half the market, the little kids and casual gamers, while PS3 and 360 are competing over the other half, so no matter what, Wii wins. Isn't that logical?

Ok To many people are taking this way to seriously I mean come on. Look at the untapped processing power of the ps3 it a fuckin super computer that is brand new of course the x box is going to be better out of the gate its been established for almost 2 years going on 3. I bought the ps3 and have never been let down by it. I can surf the web and download movies and pictures from almost any website there are some that you can't get video on but rarely do i find my self bitching and complaining that I am disapointed with the ps3. The only thing that I would change on it is the fact that it has not yet put out a great game that I can keep playing for hours on end I play madden alot and I got really tired of oblivion Not saying it sucks but wow there is just way to much to do in that game and it takes way to long to do it. oh and so what the controller doesn't vibrate I don't want my girlfriend playing with my gaming system anyway. most the time I can't even tell i have the controller in my hand its light intuitive and very responcive I am very happy with my ps3 my best friend has went through 2 360s in the little time I have had my ps and he is pissed that he didn't get the ps3 insted. he has spent over 700 on replacements and now doesn't have a system to play so he comes over and we play mine. I have games stored on my HD and can play them without disks and I also have 5 game disks over 4000 songs hundreds of pictures and at least 40 new game trailers and movie trailers. the online is easy to operate too I don't know why people talk down on it i have never had a single problem on it. The 360 is a nice system and it is virtually for gameing the ps3 is a unbelieveable power house that we really haven't unleashed the potential in. enjoy your success while you can 360 fan boys ps3 is going to rule the entertainment world in less than a year.

I think that the Ps3 is a way better console
it has better graphics and can play most of the ps2 games which helps a lot coz most people have/had a ps2 with loads of games.
the only reason i was confused on whether to get the wii or the ps3 was because of spiderman3 gameplay on the wii. That was the only reason. Trust me the ps3 is at least 10 times better than the Wii no doubt.

lol some people here have some things all wrong. First of all the 360 does not have better graphics then the ps3, just because pictures are on the internet doesnt mean its true. 1080p(ps3) is better then 1080i(xbox 360).Currently i have a ps3 and wii but i used to have 360 that i sold.The ps3 will soon have many good games coming out too,many of which havent been heard of yet.

i used to have an xbox 360 but it had so many bugs and failure to read disks that i sold it before the ps3 even came out.I now have a ps3 and wii and definitly enjoy the ps3 a lot better.Everything about it makes gaming fun to do no matter what your age

Some time in the future there will be a graphics update), Wii Shop Channel (My favorite, shop for game previews, shop for new channels, or shop for classic games from NES, SNES, N64, TG16, or GEN.), Everybody Votes Channel (Debate on simple problems or hardcore problems-such as government and war), The Photo Channel (Where you can download photos from cell phones, SD cards, or ones that were sent to you through e-mail.), The disc channel (Insert a Wii or Gamecube disc and play the game.), and the soon to be Check Mii Out Channel (Coming in September, you can enter Mii's into a contest for athletics, the arts, or misc.). this question doesn't have an answer. It all depends on what you are looking for in a console. I'm buying a Wii next week because I don't care about power, graphics, and internet play. I just want to have fun. I mean, I could really care less whether or not I can see the pores on Link's face while playing Twilight Princess, but if you do, go for the Xbox 360. It's as simple as that.

I'm a long time Nintendo loyal. I have a 360, and a Wii. 360 is the first non-nintendo system I have ever owned.

I don't know if i'm getting old, but I bought a few Wii games based upon rating like
Zelda Twilight, Strikers Charged, both sucked, but were still playable till I played Bioshock on 360. Now I can't even touch Zelda or Mario without thinking how terrible they are. And they both scored awesome reviews...WTF.

360 has much, much, better games than Wii, but doesn't have the fun/innovative controller.

Wii has this awesome, new, innovative, fun controller, but the games are all so poorly/ lazily made it's ridiculous.

Without the Wii-mote the Wii has nothing and would not be selling as good as they are.

360 = Greatest library of games

Wii = Greatest controller without a mediocre/ poor library of games.

The Wii would rule if Nintedo would put the magic back into their games, and not let the Wii mote sell all their games for them.

I thought wii was cool cause it was new so I got one! but then everybody started to get xbox 360s and ppl at school are tellin me to get a 360, but i dont know if there cool or not

Regarding the Wii:

The bowling game alone was reason enough for me to place it above the other game systems. I have tried every bowling game on every game system since the Intellivision (back in the early 80's) and have purchased every bowling game available for PCs since the mid 80's. None can compare with the realism and control that the Wii system can produce in a simple bowling game. The graphics (ball and pin action physics) are extremely realistic. As a left-handed bowler, I appreciated the remote's ability to be customized for use in either hand.

I no longer have to shell out $4.50 a game at the bowling alley to enjoy bowling. In my case, this single game will actually pay for the cost of the Wii system in just a few months.

Maybe I do not have high expectations in a game system like most of the hard-core gamers that have posted to this forum. But I do know what I like... and I am very satisfied with the Wii system!

I bought a wii the only ture next gen system the 360 and ps3 r the same old things expect with better graphics the wii is the only system that actully changes the way u play video games dont get me wrong the 360 is a soild system and i want one with its online play the owns all but the wii is working on it the ps3 is also a vary good system but the blue ray came to soon they should of saved it for there next system because there isnt alot of people out there that know what blue rays is and no one really cares right now all it did was rise the price of the system who know the system could of been 400-500 dollars to start off isnt of 600 i just think the blue ray is to new to make me want to pay 600 for a game system when i can pay 250 or 400 dollars for another perfectly good system BTW I AM NOT A NINTENDO FANBOY i started on n64 then ps1 then xbox then ps2 i play them all i buy them all adventully expect gamecube it depress me to even think of buy it anyways wii is on top 360 is second because its been out longer and ps3 is last cuz its graphic arnt better than the 360 yet and lastly is nintendo is smart they test the market see how it would react to something new and different "hint nintendo ds touch screen" another "hint the ds lite is the highest sold video game product out there" so it proved to them that we want something new and different and we will buy it ween it comes out so they made the wiimote knowing that we would buy it and it cheap so while sony is losing money on selling ps3 right and 360 is in the hole because of recall nintendo is laughing all the way to the bank if u readed this whole thing congrats

ps3: a worthless piece o dung, maybe not that worthless, but it is as expensive as a very bad car and is not as useful, blueray? dont give a hoot bout that, 60 gigs, why do u need that much space, its not like its a figin comp or anytin, too expensive and very bad games, most, low speed, sucky online

Xbox 360: far better than that crappy ps3, lot cheaper, better online, and pretty good games. it has 20 gigs, a decent amount of space, for a reasonable price, better graphs for the price, and heck, ps3 stole the home button from em.

wii: well, the wii is innovative, light, compact, relatively cheap, and has great gameplay. ok, ok, i know those graphs aint so good, but, it made a smart move with the price, and has a different array of games, many ps3 and 360 games are the same, so, why noit spare for a change

ps3 alll the way x box is good i dont own it but i own ps3 great online play not much lag good games. i dont have wii i played it... alright graphics good games if you are a gamecube fan lots of mario games.

Honestly, the wii is the BEST! Ps3 is preety much the same as Ps2 the only difference is that it has "better graphics" and it can play blue ray, big woop, i really don't think anyone should waste $500 bucks if they already have a Ps2. The xbox 360 isn't that bad, i mean it wins the orginal xbox by a long shot with its new sleek design and amazing graphics but other then that everything else preety much sucks. Going on the internet is terrible their's always a promblem with it (real life expirence). Anyways it's still preety expencive espically if your parents are anything like mine, who always tell you that if you want, you have to buy yourself. Now the wii is unique, lightwight, and just plane FUN! If you like baseball games the wii makes it alot easier to hit and picth. I know what your thinking, way too much activity going on but hay a little excersize is good for you. Besides not all games require you to stand up. For example mario galaxy (best mario game ever created) dosen't invole you to stand up all you have to do is grab your nunchuck and wii controller to move it's as simply as that. It's really easy to control, it's even better then typical controllers. To sum it up all in one word the Wii RULES! P.S If your still not sure what game system to get here is my opninon the Wii, trust me you love it, and the price isn't that bad only $250.

PS3, Xbox 360, Wii

Great systems each and everyone of them. There all unique in there own way. I believe everyone of them can be the best system. It all depends on what your looking for.

Wii: What a system. cheap, fun Nintendo games, and equipped with the nun chuck. This is truly a system made to open doors for the future.

Xbox 360: A fantastic upgrade from the Xbox. Several fun and enjoyable games including the #1 game Halo. Great graphics almost a dream come true. Had a few problems with overheating which upset a lot of people but came back nicely, to give people the satisfaction they wanted. Great internet accessory’s but with a yearly fee.

PS3: A bit pricy but gave options with the 40g, 60g, 80g. Helped out a lot with a new price of $400 for the 40g. Fantastic graphics comparable to the 360. Swanky design with quiet operation; all games in high-definition; plays high-def Blu-ray movies and standard DVDs; built-in Wi-Fi and flash media reader; online play is free; HDMI output with 1080p support; free online gaming service; plays PS2 and PS1 games backwards compatibility not included with the new 40g.

I enjoy playing on all three systems. I play halo 3 all the time at college with my budy’s and we have a blast. I also love playing with my little brothers on there wii consul especially with the new controllers. it’s a great way to get people involved and gets everyone syced with almost any game you play.
Personally I found out that the PS3 was for me. I bought a ps3 a couple weeks before thanksgiving and brought it home for thanksgiving break. They had never played on the a ps3 before. So I plugged it in to my parents 55in plasma TV. Made sure the surround sound was working, and watched as there mouths dropped after I through in assassins creed.
That right there told me the difference. Oh and by the way I read a few comments saying Blue rays are going to go off market. Well there already replacing many of our old DVD’s. I believe there going to replace DVD’s such as the DVD’s did with our vhs‘s. And one more thing the reason why ps3 was much more expensive then the 360 was because of all the options the 360 left out and had to by separate. HD dvd player $200, Yearly internet fee $50, intercooler to keep the POS running $20. J $340+$270= $600. Looks like a $600 system with only 20G Hard drive.

As for ps3 vs 360 im still undecided. i agree ps3 doesnt need all that mem. but paying 50 a year for at least 2 years for 360's live doesnt interest me, on top of paying 350 for the system. that means im paying 50 more for a system with half the mem. it doesnt add up. but game wise, 360 has better games. I'd probably rather have halo 3 than 3/4 of the games that they have for ps3 at once (which is only like 10 so that doesnt really matter).

Wow great arguments. I personally prefer the ps3 with the assumption that it will outrun everyone else in the near future. Another huge factor was that two of my good friends who both have 360s got the rrod. For nearly two months I didn't hear much other than their complaints about how gay microsoft was for making crappy systems. (they both got the rrod in the same month which puts the time frame to about two months...until they got their consoles back from the repair shop) Now they have managed to get repairs and are happily gaming away. I decided to pick up a ps3 and am quite pleased with the gameplay and graphics. I dont have hd so I really dont care about that. I do have online and it is great to not have to blow more money to use my system via the internet. I've noticed alot of comments about halo as well.... Halo just seems to fade into the background while CoD4 jumps to the front. CoD is by far a better action fps.
PS3: reliable console, free online play, quiet, can only improve

360: chance to be reliable, 60$ to play online, loud and obnoxious (especially if you play late at night), older: its likely that it will fall into the background as ps3 flourishes

HI everyone. i am a gamer fan....that is i love all consoles...but who is better? well they all are in their own way... wii gives you the entertainment for parties...it really is fun to play with...as for graphics...not good but nintendo doesnt aim for that in all truth i bet they can come out of nowhere and give you one of the best looking games you have seen. ( remember resident evil 4 came out on the cube first and it was amazing). but they went a diff route. so its pretty much xbox vs ps3 and whoever has those prolly have a wii just in case for group fun. as for ps3 it has its true fans but all i see the ps3 being used for is to market its blu ray...which is awesome since its the cheapest blu-ray and its from sony. that on its own helps sales. as for games i believe xbox has better deeper games... bioshock, mass effect and too human...which all will have sequels and i believe mass effect and too human are booked for trilogies. i see nothing new on ps3...are the graphics better? maybe but just a little bit. nothing huge. they great games for the ps3 are pretty much on all platforms. call of duty 4, devil may cry, burnout just examples. so if you want gaming at a good price and be able to enjoy online and group fun id go for the xbox 360. great price for the console, games are beautiful, online is fun, and the addictive gamerscore is awesome. ps3 has a gamerscore too but its just starting. dont get me wrong i love metal gear solid, but i dont think it will push sales of the system. give it time and ps3 will be better. like it did with its first console. but i bet sony wish they can have games like bioshock and mass effect or too human or halo and gears of war these stories are very deep. they are like living movies. god of war is a great franchise for sony but that wont push sales either. so i will leave you with this: CANT WE ALL JUST GET ALONG? cross platform play will happen soon for sony and microsoft. the only thing is certain franchises will stay with one company (xbox: halo,gears,bioshock,mass effect....ps3 metal gear, gran tourismo,god of war) just to make their money.

wii- it does have high definition on it and for all the people saying its for little kids, manhunt 2,cod3, and resident evil don't seem like little kids games, graphics are the least important pert of a game, if it has amazing graphics but sucky game play its a crappy game and if it has horrible graphics but amazing game play its an awesome game. wii is the best console on any front except graphic. i mean is it funner to shoot zombies with a controller of a zapper? and you can also play N64 NES SNES NGEO games on it by downloading them. Long live donkey kong country 2!!!!!

360- second best console, good games(gears, halo, COD-234,O good graphics(some one here claimed that the xbox only ran to 1800i, mine is running at 1800p) good amount of memory, do you seriolsly need the amount of memory the ps3 has, it does sometimes freeze for a few second but nothing that really pissed me off.

ps3 - I HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS CONSOLE nuff said

also resident evil 1 remake for the gamecube had better graphics than any game on the ps2 and better graphics than halo2 and super smash bros melee is THE FUNNEST GAME ever

Well to me i think that the PS3 will be better later on in the future. Xbox 360 is the best right now but it has had a headstart so it has their system figured out, wii is also amazing in its own way, but the reason why i say PS3 is because of its potential. people haven't realized it yet but the PS3 is a FUTURE generation console it amazed me to see what the PS3 can do, the thing w/ Xbox 360...there is nothing really wrong w/ it but some games have already quit 360 most are kept silent from the public but all i know is of one that is Halo, halo has quit microsoft and is thinking about making a movie. i have a 360 and wii but not a PS3 but my friends have them and i've played it there. the only prob w/PS3 is the price tag and some other stuff i forgot about. wii has hit the market and is making records with it wiimote and knunchuck but most people buy it because the other consoles are too much or because of Brawl(hell of a game btw). but yeah thats what i think. everybody has their own opinion.

this is facts. the ps3 does maybe not have as good online play as the xbox 360 yet but it will in say a year.sorry to all the xbox 360 and wii fanboys but the PS3 is by far the best. it has the best grapics and it also works as a pc to some extent.

The 360 owns the ps3, i mean all you want from a console is Good Games! I dont care if it runs Blu ray or the graphics are a tiny bit sharper! All the good games are on Xbox, exclusive to the Xbox and all the exclusive titles Sony used to have are now coming to Xbox...Final Fantasy the latest Stoked about that! The online system is much much better on xbox! All sony has is Fucking Haze which is a poor mans Halo and Metal Gear Solid 4.... but any gamer with good taste knows that Splinter Cell is the King of Stealth action! Sony have nothing to brag about!

Well PS3, and XBOX are far the most powerfulest and WII Lacks that.
Wii is very diverse, and xbox, and ps3 are pretty much the same.
A lot of People love Wii, and how Fun it's and its innovated controller, that makes you feel like you're in the game by its motion sensors.
PS3, and Xbox lacks that gameplay, and have pretty much the exact same games, which gives Wii a very big advantage, especially since square signed over its contract with xbox.
Wii is also truly backwards compatible.
Wii has more Innovation and creativity in its design, Xbox, and PS3 has more power graphic wise, and general games.

Here's a fun fact for you microsoft and sony spent billions of dollars creating their systems and never made that money back. The wii didn't cost nearly as much to make and it sells the most world wide.
Sony said that they need a huge turn around before they will make another system. Nintendo has a new system planned for 2011. They don't have an official name for it yet, but it is currently called Wii-HD. The name says it all. Wii with HD and improved graphics. FYI first person shooters already rock on the wii thanks to the pointer. I can't wait for that with some beastly graphics.
