Sitting in on the Vocalocity session @IT EXPO. They made an interesting point about how hosted VoIP is NOT the same as hosted Exchange. Much more complex and a lot more considerations when choosing hosted VoIP. Check out a brief video of the end of the session. (Blogged via mobile phone.)
Update: Volume is very low on the recording. May have to crank your speakers. I think I fixed the problem on the mobile device I used to record the video.

click Play button above to play video

I am a former vocalocity customer. Their service was terrible so don't believe a word they say. I canceled service with them. They must have had a lot of cancellations because I just received a survey from them sent to people that have canceled.

We apologize that you did not have a good experience with us. We do have thousands of small businesses using our service and because we are a month to month provider they can leave us at anytime. In regards to the survey, we did send a survey to our cancelled customers recently because we believe it is important to learn from our mistakes. In face, some customers returned to us after we addressed the problems they raised in the survey.

This video is tough to hear as you mentioned. I used vocalocity for my phone service and they were the problem. I'd had issues with my porting, caller id, call quality, hunt group, and more. You name it, it probably didn't work. As the other former customer mentioned, their service is terrible. My problems with vocalocity started from the beginning but seemed to get worse over time. Things are much better now that I dont use them.

I have had Vocalocity now and after a rocky start they are fairly reliable, but still have intermittent issues. Have you found another VOIP provider? I would switch if I had evidence someone else was more reliable.
