According to Frost & Sullivan, Alcatel leads shipments in IP-PBXs in Europe. The question should be "Who leads the world in IP-PBX shipments?" I'd have to say Cisco, but I could be wrong.
Anyway, check it out:
Frost & Sullivan Recognizes Alcatel for Leadership in IP Communications
Paris, January 10, 2005 – Frost & Sullivan today announced that Alcatel has received the 2004 Frost & Sullivan Market Leadership Award for its clear demonstration of IP-PBX market leadership in Europe for both IP-enabled and converged solution line shipments. In 2003, Alcatel attained the top position in IP-enabled and IP PBX shipments within Europe.
“Alcatel remains the company to beat in the IP-enabled and converged access market,” notes Frost & Sullivan Telecom Analyst Shomik Banerjee. “Its huge volume of shipments coupled with existing large installed base and strong brand name in enterprise communications has supported its leadership of the IP PBX market space in Europe.”
According to Frost & Sullivan, Alcatel’s flagship IP products -- the Alcatel OmniPCX Office for small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) and the Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise for medium and large enterprises (MLE) -- have underpinned the company’s leading competitive position. The Alcatel OmniPCX range of products provide integrated communications solutions that combine traditional voice technology with a state-of-the-art IP platform for IP telephony and applications.
“We are very honored to be recognized by Frost & Sullivan for our leadership in IP communications,” said Jean-Luc Fourniou, senior vice president, Alcatel Enterprise Solutions activities. “As the world opens up to IP communications, we believe that our OmniPCX communications platforms provide both large enterprises and SMBs an ideal solution for implementing IP telephony and the latest in innovative communications applications.”
In selecting the recipient of the Market Leadership Award, Frost & Sullivan analysts tracked revenue and market share, revenue growth rates, profitability and market/technology innovation of leading market competitors. Participants were then ranked following interviews with all market participants and extensive secondary research of proprietary data sources.
