AOL’s Internet Indie Video Programming

My scorecard on what each of the major telecom, wireless and entertainment companies actually offer their customers gets more confusing every day.

Earlier this week, AOL joined start-up Brightcove to offer web video distribution to almost any video content producer to distribute their programming on the AOL web site, becoming much like an independent film channel.  In fact, Brightcove plans to obtain its video content from independent filmmakers and smaller cable networks.

AOL users will be able to find these video programs through the site’s video search feature, which already has an index to video clips on the Web.  Plans also call for AOL to highlight certain videos on other pages of the Web site.
