Cayman Islands VoIP

The Cayman Islands now has broadband VoIP. Guess that means criminals can not only offshore their money to the Cayman Islands, they can simultaneously make it harder for law enforcement to eavesdrop on their phone conversations. If you want anonymity, especially with the U.S. National ID card in the works, then the Cayman Islands is for you! I'm being facetious of course...

Anyway, Cable & Wireless of Cayman launched today their broadband telephony service to all three of the Cayman Islands. According to Net2phone, this proves that an outsourced telephony solution can be a value to the local incumbent telco as much as the cable operators that are looking to compete with them.

I don't take the cheap jibes about Cayman personally... we can't all be well informed about what really happens down here, but if you want to see how to really poke fun at Cayman, check out the video from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart on my blogsmile

Anyway, ironic that C&W have launched VoIP with Net2Phone, who, until deregulation, they fought tooth and nail to keep out of Cayman !

Personally I will stick to Vonage for my Cayman callssmile
