Arbinet plans to feature its newest IP Exchange at ITEXPO East taking place February 2-4, 2011 in Miami Beach, Florida.

Arbinet will participate in IP Communications Industry’s Leading Event at Miami Beach Convention Center in February. I'll be at the show covering the latest IP communications happenings. Just got my flight booked today, in fact.

ITEXPO Named Top 50 Fastest Growing Tradeshow

January 19, 2011

TMC's ITEXPO was named one of the fastest growing trade shows by Trade Show Executive in their Fastest 50 Awards. I've been with TMC since 1994 - right out of college and I've seen this company grow from 15 employees to over 65 employees. It's been an amazing ride. TMC's ITEXPO has had some stellar companies participate over the years, including Asterisk, Avaya, Cisco, Microsoft, Packet8, ShoreTel, and Skype.

TMC CEO Rich Tehrani said, "Much thanks goes to all of TMC's readers as well as our sponsors, attendees, partners, vendors who supply us decorating services, audio/visual, etc and of course the tireless TMC team who works around the clock to over-deliver for customers.

ITEXPO East 2011 Up 52% in Attendance

January 14, 2011

I mentioned a few days ago that ITEXPO features some impressive companies participating at the show. ITEXPO is one of the leading expos on VoIP, telecom, 4G wireless, and unified communications (among other things). Well, some more good news to share courtesy of Rich Tehrani:

For those of you who attended the ITEXPO and related events last year in Miami, you remember it was a very strong show with great attendance. The conference usually draws from all over the world – especially Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, the Central and Eastern US and of course Canada.

ITEXPO East Features Impressive Vendor Participation

January 11, 2011

ITEXPO East is just a few weeks away (February 2-4th) in sunny Miami, Florida. How is the show shaping up? Well, if ITEXPO West is any indication, ITEXPO East should be a great show. Vendor participation for ITEXPO West increased almost 50%, and 216 exhibitors issued almost 400 news announcements from the show floor, detailing new products, services and alliances that were announced at ITEXPO.

Social Networking 2.0 Brings Businesses Into the Fold

January 5, 2011

Social networking exploded in 2010 resulting in Facebook social networking traffic surpassing Google search traffic. What's the main difference between Facebook traffic and Google traffic? Facebook is about sharing content with groups - family, friends, and co-workers, while Google is a solo affair with individuals reading interesting stories and finding out information. People naturally want to build associations and connections with other people, which is why social networking has exploded.

Digium|Asterisk World Returns to ITEXPO

December 10, 2010

TMC and Digium, the Asterisk Company, today announced that Digium|Asterisk World is returning to ITEXPO, February 2-4, at the Miami Beach Convention Center.  Asterisk is the world’s most widely used open source communications software, and the Digium|Asterisk World event helps the entire Asterisk community learn how to create more flexible and powerful telephony solutions.

Open Source Communications solutions currently account for more new phone lines than any single conventional PBX or key system manufacturer.  While Open Source communications software can be free of charge, it creates significant revenue opportunities for businesses that install Open Source PBXs, and provide GUIs, PBX appliances, gateways, and other related services.

ITEXPO up 50% with 216 Exhibitors

October 20, 2010

Some great news about TMC's ITEXPO that I wanted to share. ITEXPO has experienced phenomenal growth year-over-year. Vendor participation for ITEXPO West increased almost 50 percent, and 216 exhibitors  issued almost 400 news announcements from the show floor, detailing new products, services and alliances that were announced at ITEXPO. Additionally, more than 215 exhibiting companies, 366 speakers, 5,800 conference and expo attendees, and almost 100 members of the media participated in the event at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Nine Technology Targets Online Backup to MSPs

October 19, 2010

At ITEXPO I met with Gene Fay, Senior Vice President for Nine Technology, an online backup and recovery service designed for MSPs to brand and resell. Nine Technology’s "Powered by Nine" data backup and restore solutions enable managed service providers (MSPs) to offer cost-effective and secure online backup and recovery services for desktops, laptops and servers.

One of their main claims to fame is their patented global deduplication process. It uses "block level" global data deduplication and compression to minimize data size, number of files and bandwidth utilization. Gene Fay claimed that their partners have done some testing and Nine Technology is 5-15x faster at recovering files than the popular Mozy or Carbonite solutions.

Some new features recently announced include:
  • Seeded initial backups shipped to the data center
  • Semi-continuous data protection
  • Granular SQL server backups using VSS snapshots
  • Automated self-service branding of partner client software
  • Web-based restore processes
  • Updated, easier-to-control GUI
The "seeded" initial backups are a key feature, since many organizations have terabytes of data that would take a long time to backup even over a fast WAN Internet connection.

CounterPath Demos iPhone to Nexus One Call Switching from VoIP to Cellular & Back

October 6, 2010

I met with Todd Carothers, VP of Product Management at TMC's ITEXPO in Los Angeles to hear about Counterpath's latest patents and new product offerings. Todd gave me one of the coolest demos of mobile VoIP I've ever seen! I captured the demo in one of two videos that I've included in this blog post. Definitely a must watch!

2600hz Introduces "PromoCalling" - Free VoIP Phones for Business

October 6, 2010

I'm off to moderate an ITEXPO session, but came across some interesting news announced at ITEXPO I wanted to share.

Check it out:

2600hz Introduces "PromoCalling" -  Free VoIP Phones for Business

Ad-Supported Phone Provides Competitive Free Calling Option to Enterprise, Small Business Market via SIP-enabled Devices
Los Angeles, CA, October 6, 2010 (ITEXPO: Booth # 606)  - The 2600hz Project, a subsidiary of VoIP, Inc. today announced free SIP phone service for VoIP carriers.  The ad-supported system is designed to empower today's VoIP providers to compete with free calling services already available on the Internet.  The white-label service bundles features like find-me, follow-me, ring groups, meet-me conferencing and voicemail into a hosted platform. PromoCalling enables carriers to compete with similar offerings from Google Voice and Skype taking communication a step further by operating via business grade SIP phones rather than web or soft phone devices.

"Smaller VoIP carriers face fierce competition in a marketplace where Google and Skype offer services that are free," said Darren Schreiber, CEO and Co-Founder of 2600hz.
