Iwatsu Adds SIP-Aware Firewall

Today, at Internet Telephony Conference, Iwatsu Voice Networks (Booth #617) announced the expansion of its Valued Integrated Partner program (VIP) with the addition of a new partner, Ingate Systems. Iwatsu's VIP program is designed to offer products and services that provide value-add to the Iwatsu Enterprise Communications Server (ECS), Iwatsu's flagship call processing solution for small- to medium-sized businesses.

Ingate will add its Ingate SIParator line of products to the Iwatsu VIP program. The Ingate SIParator is a device that connects to an existing network firewall to seamlessly enable the traversal of real-time SIP-based communications by solving the Network Address Translation (NAT) traversal issues with the protocol, while maintaining the security and integrity of the enterprise network. What's really nice about SIParator is that you can keep your existing firewall will all of your various firewall rules & policies, but you make the existing firewall "SIP-aware" by adding the SIParator. Personally I think they should call the product the SIPinator, but that's just the Terminator fan in me.

Ingate SIParators also provide Iwatsu’s Enterprise Communications Server access to a wide range of SIP trunk options. SIP trunking is a new application offered by many service providers that rapidly reduces costs by eliminating the need for an enterprise PSTN gateway, unused BRI/PRI capacity, expensive and underutilized phone lines or trunks at remote offices, and by providing PSTN termination in the local area.

Steven Johnson, President, Ingate Systems stated, “We are very excited to be partnering with Iwatsu and its channel partners with Ingate’s award-winning SIParator products. Ingate’s solutions complement the Iwatsu ECS perfectly and will enable Iwatsu’s customers to take advantage of the many benefits offered with the adoption of SIP trunking in the enterprise.”

“The addition of the SIParator to our product line will greatly enhance our VIP program,” says Don Gant, VP Channel Marketing and Business Development at Iwatsu. “Ingate brings best-in-class technology that will provide the ECS and ultimately our customers with value enhancing options that will help to improve their business.”
