Nancy Pelosi will kick the FCC's ass and ask questions later
House Democratic Leader Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi will deliver a speech at the National Press Club on Tuesday unveiling the Democrats' new "Innovation Agenda: A Commitment to Competitiveness to Keep America #1." Her speech fits right in with my recent blog posts here, here, and here where I rail against the FCC and what I consider poor rulings by the FCC that will stifle the VoIP industry and even the broadband industry as a whole.
According to a source, after convening regional roundtables with business, technology, and academic leaders across the nation, House Democrats are launching an Innovation Agenda, a commitment to guarantee America's competitive edge in the world. The Innovation Agenda will create a new generation of innovators, spur innovation through research and development, guarantee broadband access for all Americans within five years, achieve energy independence in 10 years and create a competitive small business environment. It's taking place Tuesday, November 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the National Press Club, Holeman Lounge, 13th Floor 529 14th St. NW in Washington, D.C. and is headed up by Nancy Pelosi.
My impression of the former FCC chairman, Michael Powell when he keynoted at Internet Telephony Conference & Expo was that he was very much for open competition. How could the subsequent FCC chairman be so far off from his predecessor? It appears to me the current FCC administration seems to be heavily favoring incumbents.
So Nancy, are you going to take a stand against the FCC, which lately
have been moving against guaranteeing technology "innovation",
broadband access for everyone, and competition, with the FCC's recent ridiculous e911 requirements, Brand X decision which prevents cable companies from sharing their network, etc. etc? I could go on and on.
Stick it to em' Nancy! About time you picked on somebody else besides President Bush. Go Nancy! Go Nancy!
My goodness, I'm rooting for a an extremely liberal Democrat against a Republican-appointed FCC chairman? I must be still sick from that cold I caught last week.
