High-definition seems to be everywhere. So I thought, what the heck, let's make my HD Meatballs this weekend. It was tight race to the finish as last night I had a grilled Gebhardt chili powder marinated thick pork chop that was excellent. I was sorely tempted to make it the recipe of the week. However, I remain concerned about how to express grilling times and temperatures with any accuracy. The meatballs, on the other hand, are always a winner. For variations on this recipe, sometimes I do not add the ground veal and I think the results are nearly the same. I do not suggest using just ground beef as I find those meatballs to be too dense. You can brown the meatballs in a sauté pan but I prefer using the oven. It takes about the same amount of time and the balls remain rounder. Also, you can make the Marinara sauce in the time the meatballs brown. That's a real time saver for this great Italian dish. When I made them this time, it was for a meatball sandwich. Excellent! I froze the remaining meatballs and sauce for a pasta dinner in the near future. Meatballs and Marinara sauce is the recipe of the week. Enjoy!
It seems there is a buzz out there for HD voice as the next thing for IP communications. As a service provider, I am a little hesitant to say it will be the next great thing. A real question for Broadvox is why are we going to make the investment in our infrastructure to deliver end-to-end HD voice? It is unclear as to the business demand for the improved quality. I am aware of the argument that discerning accents and consonants is greatly improved with HD voice. I'll even admit to having an HD voice phone on my desk, which I like a lot. But, are people willing to pay more to receive HD voice? Will we find ourselves at a market disadvantage if one service provider offers the technology, or will it require tens or hundreds? I understand why the equipment vendors are pushing the technology but I am still waiting to gauge when we should make the transition.
Jeff Pulver has done a good job generating HD voice buzz within the industry. Now, we need to see the buzz picked up by the target markets.
